Better than a standard straight edge? Yes!

The rail eliminates the tendancy of a razor/straight edge combo to stray from cutting a straight line. This tool grips the foam core, and makes a truly straight edge - important when you must have clean lines for an exhibit. Aesthetics are important, and this tool will ensure a great look. Recommended!

Worth every penny!

I have craft projects that require cutting foam board. I tried several cutting tools and knives all were a dismal failure and resulted in uneven, rough cuts and torn paper, not too mention at 75...painful wrists and hands. I figured there had to be a better way, so I googled: I found this brand "Foamwerks" read a lot of the reviews, watched some videos and decided this is the unit for me. I bought this ruler and the straigh cutter. What a difference. Easy learning tool. No strain on my wrist and hand. I get a smooth, clean straight cut every time. Highly recommend.

Better than a yardstick!

I found this works very well with the foamwerks straight cutter, sure you could use any straight edge, but this rail is beefy and easy to grip and hold in place. It works much better than a aluminum straight edge i tried in the past. It provided professional cuts on my foam board.

Great tool!

The Logan channel rail is light & sturdy, easy to used. A great asset for using the other Logan tools.

Perfect foamboard cutting tool ruler

Thrilled with many aspects of this channel rail ruler. Rubber/silicone strips on bottom keep it from sliding around. The built in rail guide for cutting tool (Foamwerks Straight Cutter-Adjustable Depth) was easy to use. Teenage granddaughter assembled a foam board dream house to scale with ruler and cutter. She made 100% on that project. Extremely happy with this product...even though cost was more than I wanted to spend...it is a quality product.

No metric on this one, sadly.

I had been considering the channel rail for a long time. A high-sided, slip-resistant straight edge would just be so useful for crafting, be it with foam board, EVA foam, cardstock, chipboard, pink foam, cork, whatever… But the channel rail is kind of expensive, so I held off. Oh sure, it had the advantage of having the channel that fits Logan's other tools. And then I saw a review of some cosplayer in Australia who was checking out their cos-tools branded tool set. It's basically the Foamwerks tools in red, because, hey, the same tools that cut foamboard work really well on kids' EVA craft foam and the thicker EVA exercise mat materials that cosplayers make costume bits and props out of! And this cosplayer was really excited that the channel rail they sent her had METRIC as well as US measurement on it! A great thing, because so many crafting materials sold around the world have US measures only, even in places where they just don't use them at all.The fact that the channel rail she looked at had both was the deciding factor for me. As often as I work in inch scale, I work in 20, 30, and 32mm scale. Of these, only 32mm is close to something that makes sense on a US ruled device. I was excited: I would not need separate devices for cutting and measuring on the table!I should have looked at the picture more carefully. It took a long time getting to me, and … without the metric, it's just okay. The channel does hold other Logan tools really close to the cut line and vertical. They don't slide as easily as you're kind of made to believe they will from the marketing materials, but if you keep a good hold of the channel rail, it's not going to slip on either foamboard or EVA, and you will get a straight, vertical cut, even if friction makes it not as smooth a cutting motion. There's obvious solutions to friction between the tool and the channel rail, like adding a lubricant to the channel. I'd have to think about what the best choice is though since you want something that won't risk staining the materials you're cutting or anything. Friction isn't a big deal, it just makes the cut not a smooth, fluid motion. You can't tell after the cut that the cutter didn't just glide from one end of the rail to the other. It's a good product. Its construction is obvious: They extrude the stuff and cut the extrusion to fixed lengths, clean up the edges, and add the rule appropriate to the region/product and a branding decal and package it up. Channel rail (Foamwerks or Cos-Tools) it's the same product. The Adapt-a-Rule, seeing a close-up picture now, is the same extrusion, in 24" and 40" lengths. The Adapt-a-Rule costs more than the Channel Rail, so … if you don't care about metric anything ever, this one's the more affordable option—but as I said, that I thought it was going to have both was the major deciding factor for me to get the thing, so I'd rather have just bought the more expensive product in the first place.

A great and essential tool too

Tis is an essential, well-made tool that I use for cutting my enlarged photos after I glue them to foamboard. I hold the this straight edge over rhe edge of the print, eyeball the edges to make sure I am square, and the pull my foamworks cutter steaight sone in one strong pull and I get a perfect edge every time. People love my mounted prints. Run a black magic marker over the edges and you are done.
