Review: Excellent for the money and versatile for many uses. - I'm giving this 5 stars based on what I got vs what I Paid ($299). It solved two LARGE problems at once. First, it works very well to practice at low volumes with my band without setting up a PA. Secondly, works outstandingly well for recording when plugged in direct. More on that later. It some ways it met expectations and in other ways it exceed my expectations. First, here are some of the areas where it is only "okay". First of all, the sensitivity of the pads is a bit lacking. It won't pick up really fast strikes, such as a fairly fast double role or even quick flam. But having said that, it works well enough for just about everything I need to do with it. The dynamic range is not as good as I would like. The difference in volume between a very soft strike and a very hard strike definitely noticeable but not as great as I would like. But hey, it's $299 electronic drums. The sound directly from the built in speakers is pretty good, but again, not great. But again, $299 drums. Where they shine is plugged in directly for recording. I use them on my home recordings and the recorded sound direct is outstanding. I'm 100% sure I could not mic my drums and get a better sound. In a pro studio probably, but not in my home studio. The pedals are good but for putting down a basic beat they are lacking for any fast base drum work. But... what IS great is I can replace the base drum pad with the base drum trigger from my Roland set. With that I can use a real BD pedal which works perfectly for quick double strikes. I don't think you can do that with any of the other cheap electronic pads because their base drum pads are just switches. For my needs, this was WELL worth the price and I am very happy with them. Your milage may vary.
Review: Portable drum with great sound banks - I bought it for a youth choir+band (20 singers, rhythm section, and a few strings). The drummer uses it for practice sessions. The choir also uses it at small venues. Battery lasts for multiple sessions and makes it easy to set up. The presets sound great. Use it with a snare stand and an extra amplification for the best performance experience.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Are the pads hard/loud or soft?**
A: The Pads are semi-hard but with enough padding to give good bounce. And if your really asking is the sound one would hear when hitting the pad(s) it's somewhat touch sensitive (I.E. if you will hear a difference in sound output hitting it soft or hard)

**Q: Which is better yamaha DD75 or yamahaDD75AD?.**
A: The DD75AD is slightly better because you wont have to buy the power adapter separately

**Q: Does this come with a beginner guide book? If not can one be purchased?**
A: It comes with guide to set up the Drum Kit, but if you are asking if there is a guide on how to play then no. But there is plenty of info on-line (like youtube...etc)

**Q: Does it Sound good enough to play at beach with acoustic guitars**
A: No really.
I will recommend to use a small amplifier

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Portable drum with great sound banks

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Comes with power cord, needs pedals to be functional
*by M***N on October 6, 2019*

I'm a pretty experienced drummer who has played since middle school on acoustic and electric sets of all kinds. On the electric side, I've played on Yamaha rubber pad kits on up to top of the line Roland V-Drums. This little Yamaha DD-75 unit is far more portable and compact, so it does fill a niche market. The pads aren't bad, the sounds/samples/voices are decent, and the price is hard to argue with. Contrary to some reviews here, it DOES come with a power cord (even says so on the box - see pic), but the foot "pedals" are absolutely worthless. It's pretty difficult to keep a steady beat with them as they are so sporadic and inconsistent in triggering as well as having zero rebound or feedback. That means even for beginners who aren't trying to do anything fancy will need add-on pedals to make this kit functional. Yamaha recommends their HH40 hi-hat pedal and KU100 kick pedal, but you can probably use just about anything. I picked up a used Yamaha HH65 hit-hat pedal and KP60 kick pad and a pedal for better response (the KU100 pedal is essentially another hi-hat controller as it doesn't have a beater or any pendulum swing), but I would bet a shiny nickel any brand or model would work. Just know the hi-hat function on the brain is only open/closed with nothing in between, so don't waste money on a high-end hi-hat pedal. Overall this unit is a great kit to learn on or if you're reeeally tight on space but want more than a djembe or cajone or if you're wanting a cheap multipad/sampler to add to a kit (single output limits level control though). Pads are a bit hard, but not much worse than entry level electric drum sets from Roland, Alesis, or Yamaha. Pad sensitivity is decent, but only a single zone, so the snare won't have much character. For $200, you can't complain... But I will, lol. Docked one star because it really isn't usable without pedals and as an "all-in-one" kit, it should include something with a footplate and decent spring, even if that increases the price by $50-100.
