Great package
The is a great package for the money. Perfect for the contractor or farm that occasionally needs to shoot elevations. Carrying case is sturdy and holds things in place.

Best bang for your buck with rotary lasers
This thing is awesome. I know there were older reviews of possibly old stock, rechargeable batteries not working, or poor packaging, but I've had the (mostly) exact opposite experience. Everything was absolutely brand new and packaged well, nothing bouncing around in the box at all. However, the carrying case was missing a latch and one of the hinges at the back was broken. So docking one star for that.I charged up the laser and then checked calibration. It is dead on using the calibration check procedures: I mean DEAD ON. There is zero variance throughout the orientation tests. The grade rod is really nice and seems high quality to me (I've used others that are far cheaper feeling). It's nice that there are feet on one side and tenths on the other. It's heavy and stout. The tripod is sturdy and adjusts easily. Zero complaints. The receiver is far nicer than others I've used in the past. You can adjust to two different sound levels, or silent. You can also adjust how fine tuned the precision is (which is helpful when trying to find the line initially). The remote works well, although I didn't go out 200 feet to check advertised distance.I also put it in dual slope mode and adjusted on the laser as well as the remote, and it was effortless and worked well.It does take longer to spin up than some pendulum lasers I've used, but it's like 10-20 seconds and I attribute that to the electronic leveling versus the old-school pendulum. This has to be the best value in all rotary lasers. You can spend four to six times as much to get a dual-slope function. I guess the fact that it's only IP54 instead of IP66 rated reduces the cost. But, come on, I'm not holding my laser under a high pressure washer. The only thing I'd personally appreciate is a smaller case for just the laser, receiver, and remote. I don't need the tripod and rod to be in a case. But that's just me. And, of course, a not broken case in the first place would be good. I reached out to Johnson support and will update about how they handle the issue.

Worth every penny so far
Well the first one Amazon sent was missing the lazer and charger but everything else was in the box and looked used lol but Amazon by hands down alway backs up snd takes your word so I dropped it off at ups snd a new one showed up the next day.. soon as I open it he big box I could tell it was a brand new never used unit.. zip tie on the box and everything in box was wrapped in micro bubble rap..Excited ran outside set it up building a building pad I ran 6 stakes and zero them all the sub grade in second.. the tripod is a very nice unit and the grade rod is not a plastic china junk made from Aluminum with nice black bright numbers and lines snd pulls out snd locks nice.. everything was of top line.. lazer looks a little on the cheap side. But works great.. to make the slope you need you will have to hold link road and adjust the laser with the remote till you get the solid beep for the slope you need.. like 1 % yiu stand 10 ft away and bring yiur receiver up one tenth snd keep hitting the button till you get solid beep .. well worth the money

Work as expected
Was able to go 700 feet in the fog and rain to the point I could hardly see it. The Rechargeable batteries lasted all day. It re leveling as accurate as expected under my conditions.XY adjustment is hard to reproduce at 700 feet. I didn't use the remote control. It seemed like a third weel with no feedback.
