The Philosophy Book: Big Ideas Simply Explained

Book arrived in good condition and in fairness the content is very interesting. However, someone has dropped a massive bollock. As you can see, the book cover is in German but the contents in English. Can’t really give this as a gift now

A fascinating book to read through or delve into randomly. The chronological layout makes sense for readers new to the subject. The book presents the subject in a manner which has sufficient detail without making it heavy going and boggling the mind. Plenty of clear and illuminating diagrams augment the text. The lightly glossed paper has a quality feel and with the sturdy hardcover the book is good to hold and read. I buy most of my books on Kindle these days, but this is one of those which is definitely better to have in the hard copy.

Prior to purchasing this I had never studied philosophy. I purchased the book to gain insight into the main ideas derived from notable philosophers and the book excels at that. It features concise summaries on the major philosophers in chronological order, allowing the reader understand the context behind each idea. A perfect starting point for beginners.

They tell you enough to get a grip of the basics and start your thought processes.A few friends who are teachers use them for their classes.If you're a beginner you'll benefit more (there's just a limit of how much depth you can go into if you spend one page on a concept, idea or person).

If you want to know a little bit about philosophy without your brain being overtaxed or you want to know a little bit about the great thinkers from the past this is the book for you. Easy to read and informative. A really good buy.
