Good starter kit
I like the idea of online instructions.

Good kit
I mostly got this for the Arduino Uno, which works fine.

Plenty of lessons, great way to dip your toes in C++
This a great kit to have if you are trying to dabble into the C++ programming language. This really helps you you understand and practice the fundamentals of C++ in a more every day project. It has good lessons as well as simple tools to help teach you about C++ programming. You can easily practice and learn on your own with this. The lessons are not too challenging but you get plenty of lessons. It gives you a detailed instructions and answers you understand the C++ code. I do think this does help with visual learners as they are able to see how their code effects the projects. All the projects are easy to setup. The coding process is what takes up the most time. These really helped me with learning and understanding how the codes work and such. There is additional information on their online website and the information is pretty relevant to today's standard. It is a good starting point to help you build your foundation and then go from there. All the lessons really helped me to understand C++. The pieces that it comes with are okay but can be a bit fragile or easy to break. Overall this is a good set to have if you are trying to prepare and learn the basic C++ coding. I am pretty happy with the information and lessons this provide. It is just the basic understanding. There is still a ton more you can learn but this really helped me with understanding and apply coding.

A lot of typing
My daughter has been putting tinker crates together for years, and she's recently been learning to code, so I thought she'd enjoy this kit. She was able to make the lamp and she did learn from the course videos, but the courses were also very boring and she didn't enjoy it much. The finished "lamp" is also a bit of a disappointment. It does function, it's not pretty. You have a breadboard with a bunch of wires sticking out and a lampshade balanced on top in the end. The course for the lamp itself is also rather lacking, especially the coding section. Essentially you have to just copy a bunch of text...and you have to type it all. It's a PDF so you can't copy paste. There's a whole lot of code to type . You absolutely need to start with the linked getting started course if you haven't done one of these kits before and you want to understand why you are doing what you are doing. Unfortunately, while informative, the getting started course is super dry and boring. That said, ultimately my daughter did like this crate and enjoyed the electronics with the Arduino and the coding.

A really neat experience on your own or with your kiddos
This was my first experience setting anything up with an Arduino or physical circuits, and I had a great time. I tested this by myself first before working with my oldest, who is still a bit too young to code.Understanding what was in the packaging is easy. The directions included link to a course that is very helpful in understanding the steps to make the project work. The course is free (package comes with a coupon code for it - all you need to do is create an account, and you don't need to provide any payment info (so no gotchas down the line)). The course also has video and excellent documentation to follow along at home. For the coding section: you can copy and paste the code through the course website if you don't want to type it out yourself. I typed it out myself first, and mistook a comma for a period. Wasn't until I zoomed in on the PDF that I realized my error. Don't be daunted if it's not working for you at first: their guide and corresponding videos are neat. For the hardware section: all components were in good condition and seemed to work well. I've never used a breadboard before and was relieved at how easy it was. Connecting everything to my computer to run the code wasn't hard. You'll just need to make sure you read the directions. When it came to using this crate, I didn't do any of the code with my kid, but showed them the working project, then took it apart and reattached everything with them in the lead. We had one issue where something wasn't lighting up, which turned out to be a loose wire (jiggling the component that was loose until it was in place did the trick).I see that this is something you can subscribe to. If you have kids in the right age range, I'd recommend that. I also recommend this product to someone who is curious about circuitry.Mood lamp was fun to set up. I recommend!

A good take on coding for home learning.
Got this as a house project with the team lead being our teenage son. From components like jumper wires to breadboards to light emitting diodes and on to an Arduino circuit board... this is a one stop electronics project to start out a coding journey.Parts included all seem good quality. Its our first and so far we have nothing to be desired. 98% coded, we've uploaded the code we wrote following the online class. We had some problems with using a Chromebook, but this is supposedly (apparently) a Chrome issue. Switching over to PC we were able to get the code uploaded onto the circuit board, and now we are just chasing down a few coding mistakes we must have made before the Mood Lamp is complete. The components are solid. Very happy with everything. You can go on their website, make an account, and watch the first two beginner courses for free. This kit with components includes a coupon code for the first project (with the included parts) to unlock Course: Mood Lamp. Its a very awesome kit, the videos are simple and basic enough, if a bit cheesy (sorry dude). But, hey, it'll stick in your mind through more electronics learning!Pretty sure we'll be getting more Creation Crate boxes!
