Quiver Chess Set Combination - Black - Triple Weighted

Compared to our chess set at home, which I thought was standard, the pieces in this set are about 1.5x the size. Yes, I read the product description, but I didn't actually conceptualize how tall 3 inches is. For others who aren't good at visualizing height like me... I expected the pieces to be about as tall as my thumb and they are actually about as tall as my finger.That aside, it's a great board! The mat is supple and lays flat, the pieces are nicely weighted, and the carrying case works great. Comes with 2 extra queens.

One Black rook came broken, the board won't lay flat and is all distorted at the edges. I expected something much better from US Chess. I glued the rook back together and will see if the board flattens out over time, I really have no patience for the return process and it is usable as is. It is just sad that something so simple to package and ship starts out defective. I contacted US Chess direct to see if they care.

I expected little from an inexpensive product like this but I did expect one thing since it is so important: the mat must lie flat. The mat I received does not lie flat. It is warped and may never lie flat despite the producthaving been shipped in its own box.

Our set arrived missing a piece but they sent one right away to rectify the mistake. Highly recommend this set for playing at the local coffee shops! It's easy to bring anywhere.

a few of the pieces rattle, but don't leak. very heavily weighted. I would still, and am satisfied, buy this again as a gift. Purchased for $25 and am still satisfied despite the rattling pieces.
