Has anyone actually used nickel metal hydride batteries in this with an ft060? how did it work?

The original battery pack contains six NiMH cells. I use an FBA-25 with NiMH cells, but most of them have too large a diameter to fit. There are some that have a diameter of 14.00mm that will fit. All alkaline cells will fit as they are 14.00mm or less in diameter. Of course you have to remove the AA NiMH cells and charge them in a suitable charger.

Anyone try this on a ft-70dr? it says it fits the 60r, so was wondering.

Yaesu FT-60R and FT-70DR battery footprints are different, so a case or pack that fits one will not fit the other without some serious modification.

In what country is this manufactred? Thanks

If it is a Yeasu part it is probably made in Japan, but not sure...I don't have to original packaging anymore.

Does anyone know how long of talk time could be expected when using a set of alkaline batteries in Vertex or Icom handheld radios?

Easily a full day. Usually a few days provided you are mostly listening, and the speaker is not constantly blaring. When you transmit a lot it will be empty at the end of the day. Use rechargeable battery packs when ever possible
