Bond 11+: CEM How To Do: Maths and Non-verbal Reasoning

Like other Bond products, this promises to be really good but is fundamentally let down by rubbish editing and appalling customer support. In my copy I found two errors - in the first they had printed a number wrongly so that the question didn't have a valid answer, on another they had only printed four possible answers, while the printed answer in the back was number 5 ! For a book which is trying to teach fast, accurate work this is unforgiveable in my opinion - don't they have proofreaders ?I reported the problem to Bond, where they happily admitted the errors, but were unwilling to offer a corrections page (so heavens knows how many more errors lie within - I haven't looked at the maths section yet), or a corrected version, or a refund.While I'm in the mood for a gripe, I think that for non-verbal reasoning the answer section should have an explanation of the answer. Merely saying for instance that shape b is the odd one out isn't always sufficient to see WHY it's the odd one out - there were two questions which I thought had two possible answers, so it would be good to know why the editors chose one over another.Unless you want to freak out your child about how difficult the 11+ is, or teach them the lesson that they're not expected to get 100%, I'd recommend avoiding this book.

I started going through this book with my daughter and we got in quite a muddle as some of the techniques that were suggested in the book result in incorrect answers.Indeed, the answers themselves are in places incorrect.The only thing I would say is that at least it has given me a chance to discuss critically the approach of the book, so the conversation I'm having with my child more active and two way rather than just passively reading and accepting the (sometimes wrong!) advice in the book.Honestly wonder whether I shouldn't be asking for a refund given than it is "not fit for purpose" if it contains so many errors.
