My dog doesn't have any major skin or coat issues, just the normal, seasonal shedding and some dandruff (especially during colder seasons). Since winter is approaching, I wanted to get her salmon oil to keep her skin and coat healthy and to minimize dandruff during the colder/drier weather. I can't speak to the long-term effects since we've only been using it for a week, but I can say that she has been loving her meals! I like adding a little something extra or something new so her meals aren't always the same, and this salmon oil is perfect because of all the benefits included. It is pretty smelly, which I was expecting, but not that smelly to where the whole area stinks. I also think my dog likes the fishy smell. The bottle is bigger than I expected and the nozzle makes it easy to pour on her food. I do worry about the nozzle leaking in the fridge so I keep paper towel on the end with a twist tie as a make shift cap. Packaging was great - it came double wrapped. There was no leaking in the first place but the extra packaging would've prevented a smelly, oily mess. So far my dog and I are happy with this product!Edit: after a week of adding this to my dog’s meals I had to stop. It made her bloated and gassy. Her farts smelled terrible and her poops were no longer solid. She also stopped liking the oil and was hesitant to eat her meals. I assume it made her uncomfortable. However, this may not be a product problem and could just be because it doesn’t work for my dog.

Good value, needs refrigeration
If you are a fan of simple ingredient lists, Mifica's Scottish salmon oil will be to your liking with two: salmon oil and a single preservative (tocopherols). This is the best deal on salmon oil I've ever seen. I'm used to paying $25 for a three- to four-month supply, and here I get a full year for just under $30.My dachshunds love the taste of the salmon oil, and it makes a noticeable difference in their coats after a while.I wish I would have known before I got this that, unlike other salmon oil products I've gotten, it's supposed to be refrigerated once it's opened. Between the bottle and the pump top it's as tall as most two-liter soda bottles, which can make storage tricky depending on your fridge setup. Don't make the mistake of lying it on its side like I did, as the cap is not leak-proof.

I have given my dogs fish oil for a long time now, so I fully believe in the benefits of it. I am always trying to find the brand I like best, so I was happy to try this one too. I compare nutritional information, serving amounts, price and quality of ingredients when debating which brands to try. They all seem to have different strengths and weaknesses so it is always tough to find what is the best for each dog. This one comes in a clear, plastic bottle with an easy to use pump. I do not prefer plastic or clear bottles for fish oil because it is known to stay more fresh if contained in glass or aluminum and if shielded from light. Therefore, I am not a fan of the bottle for this one, but the oil seems okay. The bottle tells you to store it in the refrigerator once opened and use it within a year. This does give you longer to use the product than most of the types I have tried, which typically need to be used within somewhere around 90 days. The pump on this one works perfectly. That can sometimes be an issue on this type of product, but I did not have any issues with this one.The amount of recommended pumps per day is in line with what I typically expect. The dogs seem to like the flavor and never have any issues eating it. As I said before, we were already using fish oil before this, so I can't speak of any specific improvements, but I have not seen any negative side effects from use of this oil. I do feel like one of my dogs has been more itchy recently, but I don't know if that is related to use of this oil or something completely coincidental. I am starting a new bottle of oil soon so I will come back to make notes if I notice that changes after the switch. Given the amount in the bottle and the amount per serving, I find this to be mid range in price per serving of the brands that I have tried.Nutritionally speaking, this one seemed pretty average in the things I look for, but it does not list any omega 6 (which I only find in some). This one was a little difficult for me to compare because when I looked at the amounts per serving size some of the items were lower than many other brands, but once I calculated how much I get after the recommended amount of pumps, it actually ended up higher than other brands. Overall though, I would say the omega 3, EPA and DHA is pretty comparable to the other brands I have tried. Also, I had a little difficulty comparing the kcals for this one as it lists it only as ME. I tried to research it and from what I can tell, I *think* the number of kcals per serving is in line with the other brands I have used.I like that this contains only Scottish salmon oil and tocopherols. It appears to be responsibly sourced and of good quality. While I don't think this is my favorite brand and I probably won't purchase it again, I don't think it is a bad option, especially if you are using it preventatively rather than trying to address a certain health issue.Update: The itching did seem to improve quite a bit when we switched to another brand of oil, so I just don't think this one works as well as some others, for my dogs.

A huge amount
This says it's a year supply and that's not any kind of an exaggeration. It goes a long long way. It would be perfect for someone with multiple or large breed animals.I've been looking for a few different things for my babies to meet all their different needs like mobility, healthy skin, most important for me their immune systems and dental health, and other basic overall health benefits. I decided being proactive and trying to keep any issues from coming up is best and like that this is for both dogs and cats. I know they have different overall needs but when I ended up with 50 different bottles, I started looking for at least some that can be used for either animal. It helps remember what's what plus helps with organization and clutter. While I'm still learning so haven't noticed anything and am using this for one of the proactive benefits, I can't say there's a specific area that it's helping. But I can say it's easy to administer and none of them have had any issues so it must be helping them overall.

Effective but STANKS
This is a high quality oil. I appreciate the ingredients and lack of additives. I have a Aussie who was getting very dry skin?”, coconut oil wasn’t cutting it so I got this to help. He is starting to get healthy skin under the dry within the first week. My only complain is the smell. I have three medium sized dogs, so for their meal they each get three pumps of this in their kibble. The entire kitchen and livingroom smells like fish grease for an hour afterwards. For the results it is highly worth the smell. Overall I plan on keeping this in my house year round.
