HUBSAN H501S X4 Drone 4 Channel GPS Altitude Mode 5.8GHz Transmitter With 1080P HD Camera RC Quadcopter RTF Standard Edition Black

We bought this for our son's 10 year birthday and it's been a huge hit. A few items to note that haven't been covered on previous reviews:1. The quad came with the most recent firmware update. An advantage to buying this drone is that it appears that Hubsan does a great job of listening to the feedback of their customers and making changes accordingly. A lot of the bugs that are mentioned in reviews from a couple of years ago are no longer an issue.2. The distance and altitude that you can cover is much greater than advertised. We were able to go 1200 meters in distance and close to 200 meters in altitude.3. This is very easy for a beginner to use. As long as it's in GPS mode, and you don't go into the settings to turn on manual mode, even a 10 year old can safely fly it.4. We purchased two extra batteries. This gives us about an hour of total fly time.5. My only reason for giving it 4 out of 5 stars is that there is no option in the settings to change it from metric to imperial. Other than that, we're having a blast with this drone!

So... I bought this for my husband for Christmas and he couldn't get it to work. In retrospect, I think it was user error. I'd read other reviews and 2 people mentioned having issues but I risked it because the other reviews were soooo great! With that said, I returned the first one. He just couldnt get it started and tried everything. 1 week after christmas we we sent another one. Im very happy that they sent another and trusted we would send the first one back... so there was no additional wait time or money held up for returns, etc. The second one arrived and we were seemingly having the same issue. My heart dropped. THEN my husband decided to look the company up online and get a customer service number. THEY walked him through getting the drone started. There are a few more than pedestrian steps involved. ANYWAY, the call worked. Customer service was VERY helpful and the drone is up and running and my hubby is over the moon in love with it. The previous one PROBABLY would've worked if we knew what we were doing. So with that said, the directions could be a little better with perhaps a video to show you how to calibrate and unlock the motors. 4 stars because of the unease of starting it up initially. HOWEVER, when you get the hang of it once you should be good do go. CALL customer service if needed.

I ordered one MJX Bugs 2W and 2 MJX Bugs 5Ws. All three arrived with damaged parts right out of the box. I had to return them. Amazon is great about such returns. They credited my account before I Had even returned the items.Now for the Hubsan H501S. It was obvious from the beginning that the packaging was superior to the MJX Bugs. To my surprise, Hubsan had also included a free sunscreen and Lipo battery with connector for the controller, so no need for AA batteries. The quad feels very solid and well built. Everything tested fine during the first flight. No surprises. I took it out to a little over 300 meters at an altitude of 100 meters, and the FPV was still working just fine. The RTH worked well as did the orbit function. Having the FPV screen built into the controller is so much better than trying to use a smartphone attached to your controller. Granted in the sunlight, the screen was a little difficult to see at times.The battery took a little over 2 hours to charge after the first flight. The Bug's battery took around 4 hours. My smart charger will arrive tomorrow, so I should be able to charge my batteries even at 1C in around an hour.So far the Hubsan H501S has more than met all my expectations. Purchasing through Amazon is the only way to go. Buying on eBay or through some other online store where the items are shipped from China would have been a major pain, trying to return them and getting instant credit.

Very nice drone it's everything that is advertised. Very stable as long as you follow all instructions. I recommend reading all details before flying. The only complaint I have is the follow me mode is a little off when it follows. It does follow good but it puts me on the right side of the camera. Other then that it's great. So far I've gone 250 meters up and 500 meters away and still had fpv. And that's even with trees around me in a open area I bet I could get way further. also don't get the advanced it's mother worth it theasy controller in my opinion is worse the screen is way smaller and it don't do anything that the standerd can't do. And I've read a lot and watched a lot and seems I see more people complain about the advance. Also the drone is exactly the same nothing new or different. For a starter drone this is perfect. I also like to say that my first one I got had a defective motor in it at first flew good then all of a sudden it came crahering down with a spiral motion and I could see one propjyst stopped. With that said it happen the fay I got it all I did was email them about it and I got a replacement free of charge and haven't had an issue since. I highly recommend this drone for newbie and veteran flyers.

HelloI bought this drone after looking at a lot of different kinds of drones. For the price I felt I got a lot. This is my first drone ever. I had no experience in the drone world. I wanted it for enjoyment and pictures and video, from a birds eye view. It came in a nice package and was Farley easy to set up. It took me a few times of reading the instructions to get it to work. It took awhile for me to finally figure it out. Once I did it was a blast. It flew on it’s own petty much. I did crash it trying to land it the fist time. Had to replace three of the blades. In the box it comes with four extra blades. So I was up and running in minutes. It has a 20 min fly time that is great. I take it out now and then to enjoy the view. The Camera is very good I can see for miles. I bought a few more battery’s so that I can have more fly time. I’m very happy with my whole experience from order to play. I would recommend this to anyone that is thinking about buying a drone for the fist time.
