Annoying noise it makes but it worked!
Hung out on the side of the telephone pole and it did pick up every movement so from the opposite end of the driveway I could hear when trick-or-treaters were coming down

While the description does not specifically say sound activated only, the images below the description talk about approaching guests will activate it. It is activated by sound only. Otherwise you get what you pay for. A good decoration for the holiday.

Very thin material
You can see through the material but some may want that. I wanted to use it to block off doorway. The lower rating is because it came twisted and was not able to correct it no Mayer what I did.
