Fantasic little book :-)
I was asked if I’d like to review Read with Oxford: Stage 6: Winnie and Wilbur: Winnie's Outdoor Fun by Laura Owen and Korky Paul, and I said yes. Both my girls love the Winnie and Wilbur books, so I knew they’d enjoy this. This is a series of books is Stage 6, which means this stage is for your child / children to be an independent reader, which helps them to read longer chapters and to be able to understand them, (without any help from a parent or carers). At the front of the book, there is a page for parents and carers called Helping your child to read. This tells you the objectives of what “Welcome to Read with Oxford” wants your child / children to be able to do, which are:-• Before they start• During reading• After readingThis book has two short stories, Blooming Winnie and Winnie the Twit. Both stories have three chapters each. Both my girls loved the two stories; they made them giggle as Winnie gets into trouble as usual. They also loved the colourful illustrations. At the back of the book, you’ll find a page called After reading activities. First there’s a quiz with three questions about the two stories, which your child / children have to answer, (the answers are upside down under the bottom of the quiz). The second activity is where your child / children have to draw and design their own magical garden. My girls enjoyed doing both activities, especially the latter. :-)I can highly recommend this book. :-)

Lovely book, appealing to young readers
My children are fans of Winnie and and Wilbur, even the eldest one. And my youngest is the age group this particular book is aimed at. She's an enthusiastic reader but very bored with the school selection so was happy to receive this. It was easy for her to read and the stories were fun and held her interest. A lovely book.

Good to introduce the concept of reading points and chapters
This is a stage 6 book which is great for introducing the concept of chapters within a book. There are some guided reading points which are really helpful and will go down well with any WInnie and Wilbur fans.Overall well laid out and should be able to keep the attention of young readers.

Winnie and Wilbur support the transition to independent reading
Ideal for my nearly-seven year old to read independently. She loves Winnie and Wilbur, and she was so excited to read the two stories in this book before bed. The stories are pitched to help the transition to independent reading. I also like the inclusion of the typical Oxford Reading Tree questions at the end to support understanding. I'll be looking out for more of these books.
