Elements of Electromagnetics (The Oxford Series in Electrical and Computer Engineering)

My ex soviet professor kept talking about how he wishes he was a girl, maybe hes been reading this book for too long.

Great electromagnetics book. I've only ever used 2.

Not my favorite course. We didn’t use the book much in class so there’s not much to say about it.

Essential book that teaches the basics for EM, easy to understand and has a decent amount of examples.

Too confusing! On page 118 he starts explaining a line charge in cartesian coordinate, then, in the middle of the explanation he jumps and continue in cylindrical! I know that cylindrical works great with Gauss's law but still he has to give explanation on why he choose cylindrical and show how what trig laws he used to to come to final form!On the next few pages he tries to explain a surface charge. he starts in cylindrical coordinate but he doesn't show why rho is in the direction of -ve unit vector rho.I'm having a hard time understanding the concepts due to the gaps in the explanations. I do NOT recommend the text for a student.

This was my required textbook for Electric and Magnetic fields and Distributed Networks in my electrical engineering undergrad program. This is okay (but not great) at explaining the theory but it is light on useful examples. So, if you have to use this book, I would get one of the supplement guides that are out there to pair with it to flesh out the theory a bit more in spots where the book is weaker in explaining things and to have example problems that can help you get through your homework. My teacher in EM fields was pretty good at explaining the material and used her own homework and quiz problems so I did not have to use the book very much. I am still, to this day, not exactly sure what my teacher in Distributed Networks was doing, but he did use problems from the book for homework and exams, so I used the book more in that class along with supplements, to figure out the material.

Best text book for emag I have ever used.

I studied 8 chapters so far, not much of a difference from third or fourth edition other than more practice problems. Got here is time though, great quality for a very good price. I couldn't find the book anywhere else unless its 30 dollars more or so.

Awesome EM book, does well at explaining concepts and gives challenging and appropriate questions to prepare you for tests.

Had to get it for a course but its actual a good book.
