Great, so far!
I have distilled 5 gallons since getting this distiller a little under 2 weeks ago. So far, it is working great! I use it primarily for humidifiers in the house, though I did taste it. It’s nothing special, tastes like clean water. Volume of the machine is similar to the low setting of a microwave fan. It takes about 4 hours to distill a gallon (ever so slightly less if you fill it with hot water). There is residue in the machine after distilling. Most can be wiped out. What doesn’t come out you scale with a cleaner. The residue smells slightly, but it certainly does not create an odor in the home. No leaking observed…I made sure that I set it up appropriately to ensure it wouldn’t leak. Honestly, if you read through the manual (it’s small) and do what it says, you won’t have any issues. I don’t know about longevity of the distiller yet, but so far I am very pleased…I’m able to use humidifiers as much as I want without having to go to the store to buy gallons at $1.99 each! This machine will pay for itself in no time!

Lives up to description
I am only on my second distillation, but it works great. There is little setup to start distilling your first batch of water. The fan is a little loud, but if you are not right next to it, it can be easily ignored.

Pretty Good
I've been using the distiller almost daily for the past full month and it works well, it's easy to use and clean and, so far, has been entirely reliable. It's very nice to have distilled water instead of use tap water in my humidifier - no mineral film all over everything and no worries about inhaling it.A problem is that the little metal cap for the collection container has to be positioned JUST SO or the water from the distiller spout runs down the inside of the cap and collects on the counter - making a mess, wasting distillate, and appearing like the container leaks. And it doesn't take much to shift the cap to the wrong position, including the machine's own fan vibration.Extending the cap funnel into the container with a small piece of aluminum foil solved the problem. It does require dexterity, though. Now the water drips reliably inside and I don't have to be checking it throughout the 4 hour distillation process. I can set the machine on a timer so it starts in the morning before I get up. I don't see why the manufacturer couldn't design a better cap. My 5 star review went to 4. Otherwise it's still good and works well.Second Year Update: The distiller has held up well. The tinfoil extension for the cap works just fine, as long as the spout is placed inside the cap funnel - it's easy to miss if you're not paying attention. After producing about 2,000 gallons of distilled water from moderately hard water, the metal barrel is showing some corrosion at the bottom despite gentle cleaning with a vinegar/water soak (no scrubbing), but so far it's fairly minor. Overall this has been a good machine.2023 Edit: Another reviewer mentioned using a bit of food-grade tubing to direct the distillate into the collection container. I found it works much better than futzing with a little piece of aluminum foil. I don't know if the DC House distiller has taken to including tubing with its machines now but another brand selling the exact same type unit in a 1.5 gallon capacity has. Way better.

This distiller is perfect for my needs.
I’ve had it for 5 days and have processed 7 gallons of distilled water taking about 4 hours for each gallon. I didn’t care for the included jug idea because when the process was complete I then had to get out a funnel and pour it into a gallon jug. I eliminated this step by running 3/8” OD ¼” ID clear plastic tubing (Farm Fleet) from the spigot to my water jug. I drilled a 3/8” hole in a jug lid so the tube would stay put. Also a smaller hole for air to vent as the jug fills. **** OK **** this may not work for everyone’s needs because of the plastic tubing touching the water. I ONLY use my water for my humidifier and diffusers. If you do this be sure to heat the end of the tubing up with hot water so it goes on the spigot easier. The spigot area seems like it could be easily damaged when pushing to get the tube on. This isn’t an intended modification for this product work gently.Things to note: The fan does sound like a microwave, fairly loud. I run mine in the kitchen so from the other rooms you can’t hear it. The fan is pushing out air that I have measured at 117 degrees F. This is perfect for Midwest winters distilled water and a little extra heat. After auto shut off be sure to let it cool down before disassembling!! If you open it too soon it will blow out a large plume steam and it is HOT! I know as I got over anxious once but never ever again.I have not used the I have cleaned mine after every gallon by adding enough vinegar to cover the bottom. I haven’t really had to let it soak I just use a silicone sponge on the entire inside then rinse well. Be sure to check and clean the top. There is a very little build up of minerals on the bottom. I’m sure a person could do a few gallons before a cleaning. For me it’s easy, it’s in the kitchen, I just do it each time. Hoping that it will last for a couple years. At least 96 gallons so it pays for itself. This distiller does exactly what it supposed to do. Very simple to use. I was paying a buck a gallon at the store so this will save some money and not having to haul 10 gallons out of the store to home each week. I am very pleased with this purchase no regrets at all.

Things to know
It works great. I had to get a distiller, as we seem to be getting water pumped from a pond. It has slime (unnoticeable at first), which seems to be from frogs living in it. They charge us about $10 + another $50 for sewage treatment, a bit of a rip-off.But we need clean-drinking water. I tried filters (ZeroWater). Distiller works even better. The metal cap, if you turn it "upside down" works as an unconventional funnel. If you use it the way it's shown in the advertising, it can block your view and you can sometimes misalign and have water spill all over the place. You can also load more water than the container can hold. You should get one with glass container. It's same make, different label, made in China. The plastic container can leave plastic taste, for quite some time. So buy one with the glass container instead. If you buy separately, it's about $60 more. They could improve it to another level by coating the bottom with Teflon, it would make cleaning easier.
