Octopath Traveler II - Nintendo Switch

I got this after seeing how excited everyone was. I hadn’t played the first one, and that’s totally fine because this game is completely self contained. I had no issues understanding anything and the stories were completely within this game. I did go back and buy it lll the first one play after this one because I loved this one so much.As a woman, I wanted to play with my main character as a female protagonist. Sometimes I find that hard to do in games because female roles are relegated to background roles like healers or mages or just some “sexy” support role. This game (and the first) have actually viable female leads. They have interesting stories, backgrounds, powerful moves and abilities. I actually had a hard time choosing a main character to focus on, all the male and female characters are EXCELLENT. The beauty of this game is it is somewhat linear but no 2 playthroughs will be exactly the same.The combat is so much fun. It’s a turn based jrpg but it isn’t nearly as boring as it sounds.The graphics are stunning. You might think 2D sounds low quality or have the idea that pixel art couldn’t be immersive… and you’d be wrong. The game is just gorgeous visually. I’m blown away by what they were able to do with 2D pixel art. This is taking the 2D turn based pixel art games from our previous youth and turning them up to 11 and seeing them in ways we never thought possible.Amazing game. I haven’t played the first one but I’ve only heard that this one is better. Even if you haven’t played the first and you want to try this, please do. You won’t regret it. I wish I could rate it higher. I haven’t completed it yet but I don’t need to in order to know that I love it.

I am about 30 hours into this title and I believe comfortable enough to speak on it. I know I’m a bit late to get to this title as I’ve been playing my backlog and finishing Metroid Prime. However, this was a title I was waiting on because I knew it would be a bit of a time commitment to do it justice. The wait was worth it.There is a “lot of the same”, but the improvements there are really clean up some of the issues that I had with the first (which I did still love). I feel the characters connect more on this entry. The first game the stories felt disconnected from the others. I feel there is also more depth to combat and character building possibilities. Also, the visuals are cleaner. I never really took to the backgrounds looking “muddled” on the first game. I just eventually got used to it. On top of that the writing and the American voice acting is improved.I think if you liked Octopath Traveler, this purchase is a no brained you will love it. I’d also recommend to fans of other turn based titles like Dragon Quest. I’m just happy to see the old turn based RPG get some love in 2023. They don’t come out often, so savor the moments that they do.

This game is ADDICTING I loved every minute of it I played it for 72 hours straight without batting an eye I absolutely love this franchise and I wish more games and more franchises would play around with this style this is an instant classic

Hi! I got this game a while ago and didn't play it until a few weeks ago. It’s worth the money. I spent about 85 hours on it and am still looking to get 100% completion. The game art is gorgeous, with a unique feeling of a 16-bit game with a deep perspective. All the characters are super fun, and the day vs night path action is an upgrade from the first Octopath game. The story is something I played before in other games, but how they entangle the characters' paths is fantastic.If you are a hardcore RPG gamer, this is a must.If you are a casual player, try this game; you will enjoy it.

Classic RPG

This game is a must play for anyone who loves turn-based RPGs.Gameplay: It's so deliciously strategic. Finding the right party with a perfect balance of skills is very fun. It's all about exploiting enemy weaknesses. Every encounter will get your brain going to make it as optimal as possible.Story: While I loved the way all 8 stories ended up connecting in the first game a bit more than how it did in this one, it's still amazing. Each of the 8 characters is so infinitely loveable that you can't not root for them. You'll also fall in love with the side characters. And even every NPC has their own bit of story!Graphics: The HD pixel graphics originated in the last game hold up and are just as good.Music: Absolutely phenomenal. One of the best soundtracks of any game in the past decade.Play this game!

The game itself is a solid 5 stars. Amazing music, voice acting, story, writing etc.However the graphics limitations due to it being a Switch game brings it down to 4 stars, as it is severely limited vs the PC version.This game has a free '3 hour' demo in the EShop - I strongly recommend trying it out there first to see if you'll like it. This demo is also available on Steam, so if you also game on PC, its best to try it out both places to see which platform works best for you. The graphics fidelity & framerate on PC is a VERY noticeable improvement. However - for my personal usage, I was able to get over that as this game works very well in handheld mode and in cases where you can only play for a few minutes at a time.
