Proster 3x1 HDMI Switch with Audio Extractor - 3 Port 4K HDMI Switcher HDMI Audio Converter, with IR Remote, 3.5mm Male to 2 RCA Female Stereo Audio Cable

I had a lot of trouble getting this switch to work. To Proster's credit, they sent me a replacement, and then when I couldn't get that one to work, they sent me a standalone audio extractor. I got the audio extractor earlier and got it to work fine, with the exception that the PS3 input seemed to cut out. I decided on a hunch to try it straight through the extractor instead, and no problems. I guess at this point I worried the problem I had getting the Proster switches to work was caused by the cords. I knew I had just replaced the PS3's HDMI and hadn't tried since then, so I got out the switch after independently testing all the cords, and voila, it functions perfectly. My best hypothesis is that this was caused by the HDMI cable Proster sent with their switch, which didn't work to convey the signal properly from the switch to my TV. Gotta say, egg all over my face now. Anyway, here's a review of the actual features of this switch: Pros: - Very reasonably priced for the features. - Switches audio when you switch inputs. - Comes with a remote for switching input. - Supposedly supports 4K (I haven't upgraded to a 4K TV yet, so I can't confirm). - Outputs 1080p. I only mention this because I could not find it written about this device anywhere, but it's important to know before buying if you're like me and don't have a 4K TV yet. - My experience with ProsterUS was very positive, they were very interested in fixing my problem, even before I posted a negative review. Sure, there's a bit of a language barrier that made me wonder Cons: - Might come with cheap (free) cables. For best results, you may want to provide your own connections. - Uses a USB cord as a power source. USB chargers come in a variety of different outputs, and the manual doesn't specify what is required to power the HDMI switch. A regular purpose-built power supply would take out the guesswork, though obviously then they'd have to ship with region specific plugs. Anyway, I'm willing to admit when I'm wrong, and I'm pleased to be wrong this time, since getting the switch working fulfills my current needs and also means I'll have an easy time when I do eventually upgrade to 4K. So to any of you with this switch and problems; check your connectors, maybe it's not a dud after all.

I bought this to send my Roku 3 to my PC flatscreen monitor, and it Just Works. I have 3 monitors, and alas, the LGs did not work with HDMI to DVI cable, but fortunately my third one had HDMI input, and that worked flawlessly. I do like that the under $25 kit included a nice HDMI cable-- these go for $6 and up, lately. It also included a simple 3.5mm to 2 RCA cable, but I utilized the standard 3.5mm cable that came with my powered speakers. The gizmo has an optical out, which I will experiment with in the future. So, once I sorted out the issue with cabling, and got everything plugged up? It just worked. From my Roku 3 box to the #1 input on this gizmo, and out to my HDMI PC flatscreen. Flawless picture, far superior to a TV of the same size. For some reason, 21" TVs out there are sub-par quality. But a PC monitor, having higher requirements, gives a superior picture. True 1080p, non-interlaced, etc, etc, etc. I was rather amazed, really. I looked at a dozen HDMI to HDMI with audio breakout, and chose this one because it had cables included, and it sported 3 inputs. It also sports a cute little infra-red remote. A bit superfluous for my use, but hey-- it's included. I wanted the 3 inputs, so I could switch the monitor between the Roku 3, and my main PC, without hot-plugging cables. Now, to be sure, my monitor has that ability built-in, but it's part of a 3 screen array, and to get the 3rd screen working with the ATI card? I have to use the HDMI path-- my card only has 2 DVI outs, and one HDMI out. So this will work for me quite well. Currently, I like turning the monitor "off" by simply switching the input on the gizmo to #3, which isn't populated. The dumb Roku 3 does not have a "monitor off" function, it only goes into "screen saver" which keeps the monitor active-- a senseless waste of the monitor's lifetime. So when I'm done watching Roku? I hit the little remote to switch to #3-- the remote has 3 dedicated buttons, one for each input channel-- a feature I really did not think I'd use. Recommended. Setup was literally mindless plugging of cables. I will have to give the optical out a try sometime, but for now? Good Enough.

I have an old Pioneer Plasma PDP-4340HD, it only has 2 HDMI inputs and I have an old receiver that does not have HDMI inputs but does have toslink. I found this item really what I needed to update my set up so I can have multiple new inputs and also send the digital audio to my old (but very powerful receiver). It seems to work so far switching between the 3 inputs just fine and sending audio out to the amp. I have used it with a sony bluray, chromecast and also my xfinity cable box. The few issues is that the remote is not intuitive so need to get used to it better and also have not figured out the audio switching between 2.0, 5.1 and native TV input ... I will update if I cannot get it to work especially with the multichannel output (5.1, DTS, DD). The only other thing is the box is plastic so concern about over heating, my other switches are metal and can dissipate the heat, I assume, better. It does come with usb power cable only, HDMI cord and RCA cable for analogue. It was all packed pretty well. Finally, you need an old phone USB adapter that outputs 5v at 1A for power to the unit. ====== update - overall it is working good; I could not get audio 5.1 output to work, just seems to be 2 channel digital, this is with chromecast ... otherwise satisfied for the price.

My TV does not have audio outputs, so when I hooked up my Firestick, I quickly realized I could not get sound from my sound bar or other speakers. After a day or so of trying to get used to the limited sound quality from my TV, I decided that I either needed to upgrade my TV, or get an HDMI splitter. So far, it works wonderfully. I plugged the Firestick into the splitter, ran an HDMI cable from the splitter to one of the HDMI ports on the TV, then was able to run an optical cable from the splitter to the sound bar, and used the additional analog port to run audio cables to the other speakers that I have (actually I ran them to another splitter first, so I could control sound for multiple components). Overall the sound quality and picture quality using this device is excellent! Depending on your set-up, this is a good workaround if your TV does not have audio out ports. If you are splitting the speaker power between multiple sets of speakers as well as a sound bar, you will need additional cables and Y-splitters, etc. that do not come with this device. You also will need some patience, and basic understanding of how to hook up audio, and what the settings need to be at, across each component (TV, Firestick, Splitter(s), DVD/Blu-Ray, Tuner, VHS, etc.). If you don’t have the settings set correctly, you won’t get the sound! You also need to understand a bit about current, and how the sound gets to the speakers, and be able to work through problems such as echos, and diminished sound quality, each time you split the signal, especially if not using quality cables and adapters. I’ve been doing this for a long time, so it was fairly easy for me, and I have many components hooked into my sound system. It would not have been so easy, if I was just starting out, however (at least with the amount of wires, cables, components, etc. that I had to deal with). If you are just dealing with a TV and a sound bar, it should be pretty straightforward.

I'm 69 (old school) with a very nice stereo system (pre-amp, power amp, speakers, A/C line conditioner/power surge protector). Bought a New Samsung 4K tv recently and was surprised to find no audio outputs except for one HDMI input with ARC. Well my pre-amp doesn't have HDMI connections, just standard RCA plugs. I was not going to replace my system with any A/V processor or receiver. So I searched online for answers to output audio from the tv to my system. Found out about an "audio extractor" converter (never heard about this before). I read many reviews and found this one. I connected my Fire Stick to HDMI1, my Oppo DVD player to HDMI2, and the mini plug to the stereo out port to my speaker cables. Great picture, no audio to my system. I pressed the 2CH button on the remote several times, nothing. Unplugged and re-plugged all the cables, nothing. Played with the output button on the box itself, nothing. Almost gave up and was going to return the unit until I opened the remote and replaced the battery. Pressed the 2CH button and suddenly, SOUND!!. Only minor issue is an audio delay between the box output and the tv to my system's speakers. So I just turn off the tv's speakers. Other than that, the unit is exactly what I needed. Update: December 2019 The RCA audio outputs died. No sound to the speakers. Bought another brand but had blue ray player picture and sound issues. May buy another one of these since I know it worked.

The description says this has automatic switching. I previously had an automatic HDMI switch without the audio extractor, and I could connect my cable box and PS4 to it. Whenever the PS4 would turn on, it would switch to it, and when the PS4 would shut off it would switch back to the cable box. This one does not do that. The only time I got it to automatically switch was when I physically unplugged and plugged back in the cable. Well, I could just do that to the actual devices if that's how it's supposed to work. Plus, the remote has VERY short range. We're talking maybe 2 to 3 feet. Which means I have to get up and walk across the room to switch it, at which point I might as well just press the button on the front of the box. As others have mentioned, the PIP is extremely tiny (takes up about 2% of my screen) making it pretty much useless, and it can't be moved if it's blocking anything important. Everything about the way this device is supposed to work, beyond pressing the button on the front to cycle through inputs, simply does not work. I would ask for my money back, but then I would have to go back to physically switching the cables themselves, which is exactly what I was trying to avoid.

BIG TLDR: I would only recommend this if you have the very basic need of 1080p 30fps. This gets sus beyond that resolution, but anything that and below it will work great with. This switch is the example of perfecting last generations technology so much that you can offer it at bare bones prices. EDIT - Months later, I decided I wanted to try gaming on my HDR monitor instead of my standard TV. After a lot of troubleshooting, I found out this switch does not support HDR. I find that strange, considering this is supposedly a 4k switch and these things usually come together. I would almost think you'd have to go out of your way to not include HDR with 4k. But whatever, I initially bought this for a 1080p TV so I can't complain about it not working for what I originally bought it for, and I can still use it with that TV. I still have to take at least one star off for cheaping out on the tech this much though. I'd been having apparent sound issues with my PS5 made known by the rhythm game I was playing. I thought I was fine previously with a converter, but the songs played though it and the optical cable sounded like they were coming from an old radio and not my bookshelf speakers. I decided to try this plus an aux cable to try to get my PS5's audio to run though my PC (line-in audio) instead of just the speakers and it worked! The audio is fully controllable though my PC and sounds the same as if I were playing music in a web browser. And as a bonus - this device doubles as an HDMI-switch so I was able to extend good sound to my Nintendo Switch also. The only downside I've seen is that the automatic-input switching is worse than non-existent. It seems to be able to do it, but in a bad way. Whenever I pressed the home button on a console's controller, it switched back to my PC. And if you have the wrong input selected on the HDMI-switch, pressing home on another controller will somehow activate whatever input's console you are on. Like, somehow it allowed my Switch controller to turn on my PS5. Regardless, I'm fine manually switching everything with my remotes so after disabling those features in the console menus it all works as intended. I can now use my PC as I was able to before, but now whenever I'm playing a console I get the same great audio from my PC and I'm able to adjust it from there too. So all in all a wonderful fix for anyone with a full gaming setup like mine -- if you're fine with manual input switching. All you need is this, an aux cable, and an HDMI cable for every console. And this even comes with an HDMI!

I was looking for an audio extractor to pull 5.1 Dolby Digital from my FireTV as my Samsung LCD passthru didn't do the job. I came across this guy which actually had an HDMI switcher built in as well. Gave it a try and it works brilliantly. Extracts Dolby Digital from the FireStick and PS3 beautifully when it's available from Netflix and Amazon. Hulu and Disney+ don't have Dolby Digital at the moment but using this extractor and an Ear Force DSS, I'm getting Dolby Pro Logic which sounds really good. Much much better than the passthrough on my not so new LCD TV. HDMI switch works great. With all 3 inputs off, whatever one turns on, switcher automatically pumps to the TV. PIP works as well to see multiple inputs. The remote works now but at first it did not. I thought the battery was dead but when I flipped the battery over it then worked. Just have to point it at the IR port., but decent range All in all a great deal at $23 or so. So now instead of changing optical cables to my Ear Force DSS 7.1 when switching from PS3 to Firestick, now it all runs seamlessly through this device and no more switching cables or inputs on my TV. Very nice ! Don't expect 5.1 Dolby Digital from the Nintendo Switch. It doesn't output Dolby Digital which is not the fault of this device, but getting 5.1 Dolby Pro Logic from the Switch through the Ear Force DSS is pretty nice.

Compre este producto para poder conectar varias fuentes a un proyectos de cine en casa y a mi equipo de sonido, ha funcionado muy bien, tengo conectados una PC, un chromcast y un blu-ray, la separación de audio funciona de maravilla, el audio tiene muy buena calidad (tengo un equipo high end y se escucha muy bien). El único defecto es que en ocasiones se tiene que desconectar y volver a conectar alguna fuente para que las reconozca nuevamente, pero es algo muy sencillo.

I’d plugged in and worked without issue. Very easy to use.

***Update - after posting my initial review the vendor reached out to me and offered to send a new unit as the first one arrived defective and I could not use it. Within a few days I received the replacement item and was able to set it up. Works great! The original reason I purchased this unit was for my mother as she is losing her hearing and can no longer hear the TV. She has a pair of Wireless headphones with only 1 audio input which made it a pain from changing from one audio source to another.... This product has solved that issue and makes it so easy to change from audio sources. And the best part is everyone else in the room can still hear the TV with no issues. Not only has this product met my satisfaction - I am most impressed with the customer service. I would purchase from this seller again in the future. Original Review- I’ll update this review later if I can resolve the issue I’m having. I’m not sure if perhaps I received a defective unit - the sound from input 1 comes through the audio output no matter what input I choose. I could not get the sound from input 2 or 3. After several minutes I’ve lost the picture and can’t get any video to pass through. Still have sound on input 1 passing through. I’ve read through the manual and can’t see the resolution for this - I’ll try again this evening when I have more time and if I can make it work, I’ll update my review.

This product is exactly what I was looking for and it delivers. With this product, I have my Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and laptop all connected to the same monitor and external speakers. My monitor doesn't have an audio out port so the built-in DAC comes in handy. Build quality is great and the package includes three cables. This is a lifesaving product for me and I highly recommend it to anyone connecting consoles and monitors.
