Study Like a Champ: The Psychology-Based Guide to “Grade A” Study Habits (APA LifeTools Series)

Not just for students or those who teach them...
Picked this up after hearing the authors on a podcast. Teaching and learning isn't just for school...it's so important in hiring, leadership and even the sales profession, so I grabbed a copy and read it through that lens. Burned through a highlighter pretty quickly. So many lessons for how to enable new hires in their new roles, how to lead others, and in sales...how to create learning experiences for prospects and customers. The fact that it's written for students makes it so consumable, too...not a bunch of big-worded fluff - data-backed best practices and approaches that will make learning more efficient and effective for everyone.

Boy, I wish I could have read this 40 years ago!
How to study? How to learn the most with the least amount of effort, in way way that keeps things interesting? And best of all, what study methods DON’T work? Such a great book! :-)

The book every student needs to read
Most students don't know how to study or worse, assume they do, but are badly misinformed. Gurung and Dunlosky provide concrete, research-based recommendations that not only debunk all those mistaken ideas about how to learn, but explain what really works and why. Written in a clear, engaging way with lots of helpful examples, Study Like a Champ is the go-to guide that every high school and college student needs to read. I retired from full-time college teaching several years ago, but I wish this book had been available to assign to my students. It's a gem!

Concise and evidence based! This should be required reading!
I just finished reading "Study Like a Champ" and it is an incredibly helpful book! I was thinking while I read this book it has been such a long time since I have read something so simple, clearly applicable, and well researched. As a high school teacher I teach study skills and notetaking in all of my classes. This book is far more systemic and complete than what I am teaching. It was so nice to read something with so many recent studies to illustrate the impact of these strategies. I can easily apply strategies in my class. It would also be easy for students to learn and apply these practices. The largest question is education is does this new practice work better than my current practices? Study Like a Champ repeatedly answered that question with comparisons between different study strategies clearly communicating the difference and why the difference occurs. As an educator I would strongly recommend this book!

Please do not buy the book.
So much nonsense. Waste of time and money.
