#1: Larger cup clearance. #2: Steam wand now can deliver Froth/hot milk options. With time you will remove the outer shell, and use it freestyle, you'll get the hang of it. You even can remove the entire steam wand assembly, and replace it with Rancilio Silvia old steam wand for ~25$, which will fit right in. #3: Basket now support removal of the filter, for better cleaning. Old model basket was fused with the filter. With time, you will get a non pressurized filter, for better espresso shots. Indeed you will need a nice espresso grinder as well for dialing in. Hope that answer your question, even thought I'm over a year late. Oh, then, someone else might find it useful.
