Easy to install, perfect fit!
First, be aware this is just a plastic shell, 2 screwdrivers and some screws. You will have to gut your own Switch dock and place those parts inside this. So, I hate the size of the Switch dock. It's not easily portable, it doesn't fit my Switch very easily with a protective case and screen protector, it just makes no sense. This bad boy resolved those issues. It's small, light, has an LED slot and was easy to bang together.I'd say it took me 15 min to swap shells with me being cautious so I didn't pull a wire or snap something. If you're unsure how to do it or if you aren't sure you're adept enough technically, watch a YouTube video. It's pretty simple.Overall I'm really glad I can bring this from room to room or on the go. I chose this one because I read you can fit the Skull & Co grip case on it and it has the light feature. The Switch fits great with the case on, see my 3rd pic. The light works fine, just be careful with the light and wires, it's small and I felt the most delicate. If I had any complaint it's that it's too tall to for into the Skull & Co Max Carry Case by like 1/2 an inch, no big deal though it'd have been nice. Also, it only comes in Black. If it came in other colors to match joy cons or classic atomic purple or ice blue etc that'd have been amazing. Or even a decal of the NES system! But those are nit-pick complaints on my end.Overall it's what Nintendo should have made in the first place. There's no good reason for all that wasted plastic.

Excellent case, perfect for making a travel Switch dock
Instructions were very tiny to read and full of typos, fortunately the process of transferring the circuit board is fairly intuitive. Used the included foam sticky-tabs to stabilize Switch when docked (the official dock has this too, but its more embedded). Includes a window for the LED power indicator if you transfer it. About an 1/8 of the size of the official dock, making this one a lot more portable. *Does not include circuit board*, which is a good thing, as nearly all the unofficial docks that include the circuit board have issues with bricking consoles on update. Includes vents in the case, which many of the other custom dock cases do not.

Good price, good quality, works well + preserves important features, but two minor flaws.
At the time of this writing, this DIY dock shell is ($1) cheaper than the famous BASSTOP version and preserves features from the original dock that the BASSTOP doesn't appear to keep, e.g. better back venting, spring-loaded USB-C plug, LED space in upper right corner if looking from the back. I think you can see it in the listing images. This dock is about half as long and wide as the original dock and about as thick at its tallest point (the vented console backrest). My Switch is sturdy in it and I can't shake it off the dock (though it's still light and I wouldn't set it on a wobbly surface without something hard underneath), and it doesn't overheat. Teardown and reassembly wasn't too difficult even for a newbie like me; the instructions were clear enough (though typoed) and came with pictures, though I did reference a (BASSTOP model) YouTube video for help/peace of mind. Process took about an hour or two for me, mainly because I lack experience + tight spaces. Be aware that if at any time you want to revert to the original dock, you may have a hard time pulling the LED chip back out--I had to use a rat-tooth tweezers to remove it (don't worry; the chip wasn't damaged). Also be aware that this dock is not portable enough to fit inside travel cases made to house the Switch console and small accessories. The kit included a 2-piece shell (easy to reopen if you forgot something), 8 Phillips/crosshead screws so you can keep your original dock screws in the old dock, two screwdrivers (triwing + magnetic Phillips) to help with removing/installing deeper screws, plastic tweezers (useless due to no grip--please ship something better), and a manual. Everything was packaged well, and when testing with a Samsung TV, all the plugs were easily accessible and snug and I had no disconnection problems. Will report back if anything major happens.

Harder than it sounds.
Does come with handy magnetized screw drivers. The real obstacle is taking apart the switch dock. Included instructions are not the greatest. There is a ribbon cable in the Switch dock that does not come apart easily. I broke a pin off first attempt. I kept disassembling to try and learn. Broke a pin off on the other end. I do t think that connector is really meant to be used more than once.BTW, in the instructions a “nail” means your finger-nail.

Easy to install. Good quality.
I feel this is the best DIY replacement dock. First, it retains an original Nintendo dock circuit board so it will always be safe. I would never use a third party dock/circuit board regardless of how long people have safely used them.Second, I like how the back part of this dock is slightly raised vs the most popular (BASSTOP) dock. I like the slight added support a taller back gives.Third, this dock is vented. There are other vented docks but for some reason the most popular dock (BASSTOP) overlooks this. I know many people haven not had any issues with lack of venting on the (BASSTOP) but why take the chance? Finally, this dock makes use of the entire USB Type C spring connector. I like that it docks in pretty much the exact same way as the original. You do have to hold the dock to remove the Switch but you have to do that on all of them.
