These are necessary for slippery places. They work great to keep rugs in place- and they can be cut easily with scissors and made the perfect shape! I use in hall and kitchen and this makes a world of difference.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: We bought some new rugs for the kitchen area and they arrived after having been rolled up together, so they would not lay flat on the floor as a result, and were too easy to move around. After tripping a couple of times I ordered this padded backing. The rubber material is fairly light and soft but it grips the floor really well. I added a spray on adhesive to the back of the rugs and added the padding to them. I then cut the padding around the edges so that it wasn't visible. The extra weight helps to hold the edges down and the padding keeps them in place. There is a lot of padding left over and I did the same treatment to a few others that we had. it has been a good fix. It took a little time to get it all done but it was inexpensive and still working. I have not noticed any sticking or residue on the hard wood floors either.
