Ortho Home Defense Bed Bug Detector 2 pk

They are working for me.
I had bed bugs in my sofa, most likely tourists from the apartment downstairs. I sat in the recliner at the end of the sofa and swatted and squashed the little vampires whenever I saw one. It was not what I would call an infestation, but enough to scare the living daylights out of me. I sprayed and poofed diatamaceous earth around the sofa, and the adults seemed to disappear. But a few weeks later they were back. I figured they were newly-hatched eggs because the bugs were so tiny. I bought these Ortho traps without reading the reviews and am so glad that I did. They do not smell so great, but within about 30 minutes of setting one on the padded arm of the recliner (where I had seen the bugs) there were 4 babies in the one trap and 6 in the other trap. My guess is that they were the newest batch of tiny vampires and were searching, en masse, for a food source. Will be ordering more of these traps and WILL get them all gone. Thanks, Ortho. My only complaint is that the red button that needs to be depressed is very hard to push, and I kept waiting for it to make a clicking noise, which it never did.

There is nothing sticky to trap the bugs
I bought these to check a new apartment for bed bugs before moving in. I activated the pheromones and left them out and didn’t see any bugs in the “trap” after 2 days, so I figured I was safe. But then I tore the bottom of the trap off and realized there was no stickiness inside the trap, so maybe they just came and went. Not a trap at all! I’ll just have to hope the place is pest free because these were a total waste of money and effort.

First product to RELIABLY attract & trap bed bugs!!
Do some research before buying another bed bug trap (especially if it's a cheap one). This is the only trap with a pheromone attractant in it - most other "traps" are just cardboard with glue. Yes it has a bit of a smell but that's how you know it's working. This is a life saver if you aren't sure if you have bed bugs (or need to prove to a landlord, hotel etc that you do). Do some research on the scientists who formulated it, Dr Gerhard Gries and his wife Regina!! This is a must in your toolbox of integrated pest management (in addition to cleaning / heat treating clothes etc) to make sure bed bugs are actually gone.

Not sure
I put several of these around the house. We have been dealing with bed bugs for a while and these are being used on top of other measure. As others have said the button is hard to press down and there is not click to indicate if the thing is working. One trap caught two babies and some roaches the other have not trapped anything. Bed bugs are a nightmare. Other products to that I have more confidence in include: Proof bed bug spray Ecoraider and food grade diatomaceous earth.

It did not detect bed bugs, which I suspected ...
It did not detect bed bugs, which I suspected because of insect bites, nor have I seen any sign of bed bugs. So Ortho product gives me some peace of mind.

Essential in the war against bed bugs.
A very effective product. I have noticed no scent, and if you are sure to have pushed the somewhat difficult red button, which releases the bug attracting pheromones, you'll catch the little bastards. Use this as a monitor, not a cure. You catch one, go on the offensive with spray, heat, and other measures to kill the bugs. be sure to follow up to get the eggs which may be luring and will hatch after a week or so. Then keep these traps handy to monitor future activity. Great product.

Trash don't waste your money.
Don't work period. Have small amount of bed bugs and followed instructions to no avail. I'll repeat, THEY DO NOT GET ATTRACTED TO THE PHEROMONES. I have tried 6 of them the past month not a single one caught a bed bug.

No glue cards included
Although there's a product photo on this page that shows a glue trap, there is none. It seems Ortho has decided to stop including that (critical) feature recently. I had chosen this product listing instead of another that was a little cheaper, solely because this one had the photo of the glue trap -- that turned out to be untrue.I've now bought glue traps separately, cut them to shape myself, ripped off the worthless paperboard that these traps come with, and stuck on the glue trap myself. Unfortunately, This is still the only product I can find with pheromones, so I guess I'll have to keep doing this. Too bad Ortho cheaped out, though.
