Good book for learning fundamentals of modern physics
The book explains most concepts in a way that can be grasped after a few reads and it is structured so that you can build upon each chapter in a linear fashion. There are some problems that could use a little more explaining and the practice problems do tend to go outside the scope of the chapter but overall a great textbook.

The best modern physics text
I'm currently trying to read this book and I think it's contents are fabulous. I started struggling when learning about quantum mechanics, upon which I had to go back and learn about waves in general from Sears%Zemansky's. The book explained the Schrodinger equation in the most perfect way. I've read other books and it simply 'gives' an equation without any previous derivation. This is the Boltzman Constant, this is the 2d schrodinger equation in polar coordinates. This is not one of those books, which is why I stopped reading through Krane and Serway as well, there book was too matter a factly.I'm probably going to be a doctor or something, and one of my workmates said, "what is it you're trying to be again?"

The book arrived fine, but the box was pretty much destroyed.
The books were ok. The box was badly damaged and it was somewhat surprising that the books had remained in the box. I realize the sender has very little control over the carriers, but some improvement in the packaging would help.

Identical to the 2003 edition in all particulars.
Please note that this textbook is IDENTICAL to the textbook of the same title and edition # published by Addison-Wesley in 2003. The only difference is that this is a soft-cover and has a different cover image. The pagination and content is identical. I've gone through multiple chapters checking this. Even the homework problems are identical. As such, if you're looking to save a buck as a college student and you can pick up the old 2003 version, you will be doing identical readings and homework sets if you follow along.

It's a textbook.
Used this for an intro quantum physics class. The problems don't all have answers in the back despite it saying odd problems. There are only a few typos in the first 11 chapters we went through. Easy to read with lots of graphs.
