Every Elementary School Art Teacher who wants their students to learn and laugh MUST buy this book!
I'm a K-5 Elementary School Art Teacher in NYC, and I have been reading this smart, funny and delightful book for at least five years to nearly ALL of my students! The story is engaging and full of potential rich questions for students. It's easy to understand, and even keeps you on the edge of your seat. Because it's been so popular at my school, I've been able to make the entire story last up to a full period of 45 minutes, with time for wrap-up and even some drawing. It's one of those stories that the more you read, the more it gives back. A definite great investment!

Super fun book, anytime read and an excellent gift idea
Absolutely love this book and I’m nuts about the illustrations. All three of my kids love it (3.5, 4.5, 6.5) and it’s a lot of fun to read, a good “anytime” book to try to sneak in some family reading time (when they eat, getting them in the mood to do a craft) very enjoyable book, great gift idea as well, a nice bookshelf staple :)

Fun and Silly Look at a Real Life Situation
This is a comical look at what happens all the time in my first grade classroom. Each year, we must learn how to use glue. How do you open the bottle? How do you apply it without making a puddle? How do you close it so it won't dry out? Once you're "Glue Certified," you may have a bottle of glue. While adults find this amusing, children find it useful, and we culminate our week by reading this silly story about a boy who got carried away with his glue. By the end of the book, he has so much glue, he himself has become the art project and his parents love it! I really like the way the author keeps a positive outlook on the whole scenario. The main character is not punished or yelled at or ridiculed, which is very important to me at this age. We are learning, and we discuss what would be smart choices and what would be foolish choices. This book is a really fun and silly way to cap off a serious and valuable lesson.

Serves its purpose
I am an elementary art teacher and was incredibly excited to order this book. I thought it would be a fun way to introduce glue moderation to my K-2 students (in addition to the classic line "dot, dot, not alot.") I have successfully integrated this into my lesson plans and the kids really enjoyed the story and colorful illustrations. I used it as a way to break up the boring rules I need to present about glue. For example, at one point in the story they reference the drying rack and I take pause to point out where mine is and how to use it properly. Later in the book the school nurse is dabbing up glue and I pause to explain the advantages of using a sponge instead of wasting paper towels. This has proven to be a great tool for breaking up my instructions and keeping things fun. I will likely use it for many years to come. I have only given it 3 stars though because I'm not totally in love with the writing. They refer to "plastic bricks" (which is clearly a way of avoiding the name brand Lego) but the reference is unnecessary and cumbersome. It also seems like a page or two of the story is somehow missing - as if essential paragraphs have been cut out which disturbs the flow. It just seems poorly executed. So, in the end this is an EXCELLENT classroom tool, but I won't be reading to my own children as a bedtime story any time soon.

Great book, son lives it, one of his favourite
Bought as a gift for my son, he has this story before bed via YouTube and he loves it so had to get the real thing. Winner in our house.

A great book to get the overall message across - beware this doesn't preach the message, but is more of a storybook
