BETTER THAN FACTORY NEW, and cheaper.
Great direct replacement for the horrible factory lift pump. This one is designed better and works like a champ. After it was installed I was amazed at how much power my truck had again. The gradual pressure loss of the old pump ( I don't have a pressure gauge to monitor it) wasn't that noticeable and the Cummins motor has so much grunt that it goes and goes regardless. But damn, after putting this pump in I am amazed how much power is there again. One warning, it is rough to install. I originally had a garage diagnose my problem and they suggested the Dodge redesign with a 3rd pump inside the tank to help out the lift pump that would now attach to the truck frame. That was $500 plus a ton of labor for a halfazzed setup. I researched and found this pump would directly replace the original pump without modifying anything, for $200 less. Overnight Prime shipping from Amazon was another plus. The manufacturer says install is 30 minutes. The NAPA certified garage I used took almost 3 hours. I thought that was outrageous and we negotiated it down to 1.5 hours, due to the need to set the pressure, etc. Even NAPA's website said less than an hour to swap out the fuel pump. But the mechanic said it was a tight space, etc. He didn't want to remove the fuel filter canister to make more space, even though I had authorized him to do that. So just be ready for the install to be a pain, but that is Dodge's fault, not AirDog.

Provided 17 PSI to the VP44 Right Out of the Box
98.5-2002 model year easy installation and solution to poor lift pump performance. A mechanically inclined person can install this pump in one to two hours onto the stock mounting location. It's essentially plug and play. Follow the manufacturers installation instructions and remove the air intake horn and fuel filter canister to create ease of access. All necessary parts are included. After approximately 500 miles of driving it's performing flawlessly. The 100 gallon per hour pump is more than adequate for my model year 02, 24 valve high output Cummins. Costs only $100 more than the OEM 35 GPH Carter style pump you find at the local auto parts store.

Definite improvement over old pump, install was tight but do-able.
I wouldn't say it was an "easy" install, as it was a tight fit. It took me about an hour on my 2002 Ram 2500. I bought the truck used, and the dirty dealer didn't disclose that the fuel pump and VIP were shot - they'd wiped the computer. I had both replaced after purchase, 8 years ago. Lately the truck has been a little sluggish when accelerating from a stop, so I figured it was time to replace the pump again. Research showed this pump highly rated, and watching videos the install looked fairly straight forward. I would recommend you attached the output hose before you mount the pump to the frame. That was the last step in the instructions, and it was a pain in the neck getting my arm down under the fuel filter to screw in the line. I ended up getting under the truck and working a wrench through a narrow opening to tighten it. Other than that, the hookup wasn't too difficult - just a lot of tight spaces. I can definitely tell a difference. The truck accelerates a lot more aggressively - the sluggishness I was observing is gone!

Delivers the fuel!👍🏼🇺🇸
This pump is awesome! Had to back off the pressure/volume to 12-15 psig. My truck performance has improved dramatically over the OEM pump. NOW, to see if it will last @ least 100k

Was 14psi when new, now 0psi
I already had a Carter stock lift pump moved to the fuel tank position with a Vulcan reposition kit as a pusher pump rather than a puller lift pump. But OEM Carter pumps don’t last very long as it was my 3rd or 4th lift pump in 200,000 miles. So I decided to buy the AirDog and put it in the same place that I had the Carter. It was very easy to install and I just had to adapt the larger diameter fuel line that came with the Airdog pump to the slightly smaller diameter fuel line that was in my relocation kit for the Carter. My 2000 Dodge diesel started right up and immediately went to 15psi on my gauge and dropped to only 14psi when I floored it. Now goes to 0psi when barely pushing accelerator, the only time it’s at 14psi is it at idle. Edit: December 22, 2025. The pump has completely failed after buying it September 2022. Although it lasted longer than the Carters of which I’ve been through four in 200,000 miles it should’ve lasted longer than three years.. I’m going to buy another one but not from Amazon.

Warranty is amazing, buy with confidence. Good product.
So far this pump is junk. First time I hooked it up and the thing fried. I needed 2 additional fittings, I could not find them anywhere. I had to call Airdog to get them. 20.00 for 2 small parts and no mention of the 20.00 shipping. Good thing I mailed in the 4 year warranty. I hope they honor it. If it could give it less then 1 star I would. After doing some more research about this pump I would not have bought it. I hope the warranty is good. UPDATE.... The warranty is amazing! !! They upgraded my pump to the 150. Paid shipping both ways. The pump works great! Still working great. Good product. Buy with confidence.
