Good product
I ordered this for my daughter's science fair project, it's a really neat little kit. It worked well, I would definitely order again. The instructions were easy to follow and the results were perfect for her experiment.

4th grade science fair
These were just what we needed. The instructions in the box were very thorough. I think one was a dud because we swabbed the litter box and NO bacteria grew. Otherwise perfect!!

works really well
I'm an avid fan of chemistry experiments and enjoy doing experiments related to chemistry. Since the plates arrived and are in good condition, I was able to try the experiment, but the first one I tried did not work, so I tried a couple more in different places and the performance improved significantly. I would definitely buy it again and try more experiments.the picture:I tested the bacterias in various places. The date on the plates indicates the date when the experiment began.top left: kitchen trash can (started on may 8th)top right: bathroom floor (started on may 8th)bottom left: computer screen (started on may 11th)bottom right: bottom soles of my slippers (started on may 11th)

Beware of what you swab! Lol
This was a fun experiment for my 6-year-old. We enjoyed swabbing various items around the house. Just a heads-up: if you prefer not to know, avoid swabbing your phone and other frequently used items. For best results, place the swabs in a well-lit area to promote bacterial growth. We put ours in a sunny window that stays warmer than the rest of the house.

Complete Waste of Money
The dishes come in a single stack, all wrapped together, but the lids are not secured onto the bottoms. As soon as you unwrap them the lids start falling off. IF they were sterile before, they immediately become contaminated. I say "if" because I don't know how they could be sterilized. The dishes are made of cheap plastic that looks like plain acrylic like any ordinary small plastic box. I took the ones that had the lids fall of and ran them through sterilization and, as I expected, I ended up with a shrunken, twisted mass of melted plastic. I threw all of them out. Go ahead and spend the money for good GLASS petri dishes. If you buy these you might as well just set your money on fire.

Contaminated Petri Dishes
Half of the Petri dishes were contaminated. We had never opened them, and they were kept refrigerated for about two weeks before opening the box. The agar was in the original unopened package and contained what appears to be bacteria colonies growing on half of them.
