Great drives
Recently buying a DS923+, I mulled over buying WD or Seagate drives for it... After doing a fair amount of youtube watching and reviews, I decided to bite the bullet and buy the HAT5310 sata Synology drives. 4 of them were $400 more than WD or Seagate, but figured the automatic firmware updates, customer service and warranty was worth it. For example, if you had drive related problems with WD's installed, they won't talk to you. Also, I had heard many complaints about WD & Seagate drives vibrating and being noisy. After installing the HAT5310's, I can't really hear them running.. Smooth with no vibration, just the dull thump of the drive heads moving when writing to them. Pretty awesome for a 7200rpm drive. I'm running SHR-2I know they're expensive, but you get what you pay for

HDD Compatibilty Fraud - DO NOT BUY
Why is it their "3rd Party" HDD support only goes up to Seagate or WD 16TB drives, yet they support their own 20TB drive which is $649 dollars?Synology is no longer consumer friendly and it was on the edge anyway. You cant use the NVME as a volume without their drives, they charge $100 for a 16GB stick of RAM and wont support other SODIMMs, and their hardware is so weak it can be powered by a hanster wheel.Synology is done supporting the enthusiast or home user. It's an absolute rip off. Go somewhere else. Support a company that supports what their customers want. 20 years I was an advocate, now im their nemesis.
