I have an '89 YJ with the "family style" roll cage out of a '94. These pods fit perfectly and sound great with the speakers I used.Steps:***Test your speakers first***1, check fitment of the empty pods against the roll cage2, mark location on roll cage bar where the single mounting screw will go (I used a silver Sharpie paint pen)3, remove pods4, check fitment of speakers in the pods5, now you know your pods fit the Jeep and the speakers fit the pods, pre drill the hole in your roll cage in the marked locations6, mark holes for speakers and pre drill them7, drill holes in the back of the pods for speaker wire using a stepped or 1/2" drill bit (there is a flat spot in the proper location)8, run your speaker wire through the pods with extra slack9, mount the empty pods to the roll cage bar (I used the different screws, the supplied screws are junk)10, fill the pods with a bunch of polyester stuffing/insulation purchased form your local Jo Anne Fabric store (for better sound quality)11, plug in the speakers to the wire and test them12, mount the speakers to the pods with 4 screws on each side...and rock out!I used these speakers:  Rockford Fosgate Punch P1692 6 x 9-Inches Full Range Coaxial Speakers

These are amazing! I love them. They take a useless space and make it invaluable. Great tight fit and sound good. Let’s not kid ourselves because jeeps are loud. But it’s surprising how much noise these coupled with a decent set of 6x9 can drown out. I would definitely purchase again. I put these in my 92 Jeep Wrangler.

It’s a great fitting enclose that bolted right to my roll bar. Just remember you have to do some drilling.Also, it’s worth noting that the cupholder is pretty shallow and probably won’t hold a drink still when you’re driving. Another thing is that it collects water when it rains (it is a Jeep) soooooo I’m going to have to figure out a way to drain it without the water dripping onto the speaker inside.

I was skeptical when I first found these pods. I had always had speaker bar on my roll cage and with some very nice speakers in it, I was hesitant to try something totally different. I am a CHEAP audiophile which means I love my sound but don't love the price tag good sound has. These pods have FAR greater potential than even the nicest speaker bar with $200 speakers and an amp.DONT LET A SPEAKER BAR BLAST NOISE IN ONE EAR, GET THESE PODS AND SAVE YOUR HEARING! But seriously. . .Instillation was a breeze. The fit was tight, I had to wedge them in pretty good and once anchored, they don't budge. If you are concerned about theft, just get a heavy duty lock nut and drill through the side. That'll take a thief an hour to get off. They were wired to a Kenwood Excellon 494 and the combo sounds fantastic. The mid to low ranges were exceptional in comparison to the the speaker bar.I have had these pods in my 1995 Jeep Wrangler YJ for over a year and am VERY pleased.

I just installed these into my 1994 YJ. They are great! There is a screw that goes through the back of the box into the roll cage to ensure the units don't slide around or are easy to steal. You actually don't notice them when outside the Jeep or even sitting in the front seats so they should deter thieves in the future i am hoping. There is a bit of stuffing that comes inside the boxes but I recommend adding more. I took my Jeep out loaded up with great this weekend and everything still fit perfectly. I am kicking myself for not buying these in 1998 when I bought my Jeep! Oh I installed a nice set of Infinity Kappa 6x9's and they sound amazing too!

I installed these on my 90 YJ no problem, the driver will not mount flush with the side rail due to a wire harness so I just matched the passenger side. The mounting screws were too short I just replaced with longer ones I had. I recommend a washer to help prevent the screw from being pulled through also not included. The batting material provided is insufficient to fill the cavity so you will need some. The speakers fit flush on my box but these are plastic boxes. Over all these are much better than what I had and look nice in the jeep.

First off I must say they look awesome when installed. Adding big speakers and a cup holder at the same time in an unused place is awesome. I have a set in my 91 YJ and now a set in an 84 CJ. My biggest problem is that the speaker hole cut in the box is way WAY too big. At least if it was smaller you could cut it til you had a perfect tight fit but NO you get a sloppy hotdog in a hallway from lot lizards down at the truck stop. Once you run the screws through whats left of the box the speakers don't really seal like they would in a nice flat speaker box. Now I need to find something like foam tape or whatever to make the speaker seal to the rim. With all my shight talking done would I buy these again? Yes I would. I wish the quality was better but this is more of a warning to the guy looking for sound quality. I don't like bashing products but something has to be said. I was not paid to make this review if you couldn't tell. Be ready to make fine tuning adjustments to maximize the boxes potential.

Fit perfect in my 85 cj7. Came with cotton to dampen the sound but no other trim however it fit my pioneer speaks fine. No gaps or extra cutting.
