Color Theory For Dummies

Wonderful color theory book and beautiful colorful pages!
Don't be fooled by the title '....for dummy'. Everything in this book super thorough. Informative, advanced and accessible at the same time! It's great for both beginner and professional artists! This is one of those books that you wanted to keep reading and revisiting whenever you need to learn and refresh your knowledge of color theory. Far from boring, the pages are all printed in colors and full of illustrations that makes reading it so refreshing. There's also sections for the practical application of color in diverse careers across the board. The examples range from historic and scientific images to contemporary arts. Your knowledge of colors will be enhanced once you completed this book. I use this book for teaching colors to high schoolers and college students. I'm so glad I got it because this book is just so good and very well written. As an art teacher for more than 15 years, I still learned so much from it.

Best book for understanding color
I was recommended to get this book to understand more about color. The theory book is great, very through, the author did an amazing job on researching and explaining details that are understandable. A must read, chapter 2, the history of color, which was very interesting, so far my favorite chapter. If your thinking about designs, or just crafting, this book is a must have. Thank you 😊

Practical, inspiring, and informative.
Eric Hibit explains the complexities of color theory in a warm, engaging style, clarifying without over-simplifying the principles of creating a color palette for artists, designers, or just a lover of rich tones. I gained a vocabulary for describing what I see when I look at colors, and for explaining why some combinations sing and others fall flat. The book is full of color illustrations of art works from ancient times to the present. The color reproductions in illustrations and in the color exercises was excellent, like those I’d expect in a much more expensive production. The tips and sidebars are full of handy tips. If you want to learn color theory on your own, this book is the way to go.

Regrettable Purchase
When I saw the title I hoped for a good solid, knowledgeable (as the dummies series’ used to be) academic overview of colour theory. Johannes Itten isn’t mentioned in the book. Munsell gets a couple of pages along with Pantone. And Mark Rothko a mention. The rest of it seemed to me to be feelings, and occupying time with grey scale exercises.
