Very helpful general illumination. If you are looking for precise high intensity spot illumination consider getting the fiber optic illuminator, particularly one that has adjustable focusing lenses at the end of the light guides.

I bought this light at the same time that I bought the Amscope 50x-2000x biological microscope, thinking that since they were made by the same manufacturer, they should be compatible. Nothing could be farther from the truth. There is absolutely no way to mount this thing on my microscope, so I am going to return it. If you already have a microscope, be sure to measure the diameter of whatever you expect to mount this to, and compare with its specs. I did plug it in, and it makes a nice bright light. The dimmer works well, too.

This light was easy to mount on a binocular microscope and provides a very bright white illumination. The dimmer works well. However, be aware that this unit takes up a significant amount of space between the lens and the stage, so if you need to manipulate objects under the scope using your fingers, it will be more difficult to do so. In our laboratory this was a deal killer and the unit will be returned. However, if you work mainly with forceps or otherwise do not need to get your hands in there, I would highly recommend this light. Also, keep in mind that this type of light is designed for a low-power binocular "dissecting" scope-- to illuminate objects from above. It is not meant for a high-power compound scope which virtually always uses transmitted light coming through from below the stage. One reviewer who rated this unit 1 star apparently didn't understand this.

like it seems to light up the area pretty well kind of expensive though will see if I can find it cheaper

These may last a few days or a few weeks. We expected better quality. We have purchased quite a few of these in the last few years. The ones we originally received (a couple of years back) were fine and worked well and as expected. Of those purchased within the last year, even after some were replaced, ALL were at about half power within a very short amount of time.
