Best Coffee Ever
I travel to Panama often enough and have visited the farms in Boquete. My favorite coffee is Kotowa and love one cafe they have on the road to the interior near a stadium and new mall. It has become my favorite and I stop as often as I can. Actually begged my husband to bring me a bag back and he was able to once. Even have their coffee bags (purchased at the farm) displayed in my home. Now that I have found this coffee on Amazon, it will be the only thing in my home. The flavor is very smooth.

Stale, old beans!
I just finished a bag of fresh straight from Duncan Kotawa Coffee which my daughter brought back from Panama recently. I wanted another one, and it's not sold here in the US apparently, so I ordered it off here. I opened the bag and there were the dryest looking coffee beans with a stale smell! I compared my last tablespoon of fresh whole beans with these and even my husband who doesn't drink coffee noticed. Luckily Amazon is having me throw the bag away and refunding me. I would not drink it even if there were no refund. As I was chatting with Amazon, I noticed there was a stamp at the bottom of the bag, and no wonder, it is from February 1, 2013! Ick!!

Doesn't taste fresh
Aroma of the beans doesn't reach out of the bag and grab your nose (like I hoped). Used an Aeropress to brew, and still only got medium body; moderate acidity; flavor lacks richness; thin aroma; hint of stale aftertaste. Better than a can of generic grounds from the supermarket, but not good like other fresh 90+ point coffee I've tasted. I suspect the lower price reflects that the seller wants to unload this product because it is at the end of its shelf life for freshness...but what do I know, I'm just an amateur coffee snob...
