Red Devil 4050 Scrape & Pry Bar

I was first introduced to this tool 20 years ago by my girlfriend. She had one in her toolbox and told me how great they were. I had never seen one before but soon found it was absolutely the best thing for jobs such as removing wood molding without marring or breaking it and for prying all kinds of things loose. It even works well for prying large boards loose...great for getting them started until there is enough space to get a wrecking bar slid in. It's just wonderful for prying without damaging wood because of its wide width and thinness. Don't let its thin dimension fool you though, it's indestructible. You'd be amazed at how hard I've hammered on this tool for years with no damage to it at all. The steel and tempering is excellent. Oddly these are hard to find in stores. I looked and looked for them for years but fortunately finally found them on Amazon so now I have my own and don't have to borrow my girlfriend's all the time.

Red Devil 4050 Scrape & Pry BarNot for the 4050CL (Classic) which is heavier and not the classic old version.The whole point of this pry bar is that it is thin. It can get under trim boards to loosen them. The chisel ends are also good scrapers. I have sharpened my old one on a belt sander or file for so long that the angled end is less than half the length of the new one. I ordered a new one because I'd be lost without it. It is so useful. If you need a heavier pry bar, get one like a "Wonder Bar", flat pry bar or flat wrecking bar. But this one is so useful for more delicate work. When something like the claw on a hammer is too much, this is the tool to use.

Little thicker then the scraper bars I am used to. But is strong and gets the job done.

I’ve used this product for about 5 years and never has it broken or bent, ( I do commercial construction ) and in my field we torture every tool, the only reason I’ve had to replace it is to the fact that it was either stolen or lost, definitely will keep buying

I bought this to replace my trusty Hyde pry bar for carefully removing old wooden moldings in antique houses. My old bar has gone missing. I bought this because it was available through Amazon Prime. This bar is OK, but it is not hardened like the Hyde bar. The edge is too easily dented by nails, etc. It is too thick, and I had to use a paint scraper to initially get behind the moldings, The Hyde bar is much thinner. I actually took some of the bend out of the Red Devil bar using just my hands and arms, (I am not especially young, either). After one use, I ordered a Hyde Manufacturing 45600 9-1/2" Pry Bar from an Amazon Marketplace vendor.

Does what it’s supposed to do, scrape and pry and it is a bar!
