Working Nicely...
I think have the unit situated and adjusted. Just FYI I am using default jumper positions.Fortunately I have had other units over the years and they all seemed to have a lot of false alarms.I decided on this unit to take the default settings and see what happened. It appears to be working totally perfectly now. I had to move to 3 separate locations to get one that worked like I wanted. Some of this was not the fault of the unit. I have some damn pigeons that started setting the thing off so I had to move it from an otherwise perfect location. It has done a very nice job all day.. It has caught all traffic.. both people and cars. I have had ZERO.. false alarms. I THINK it is on max sensitivity. It is as it was shipped.A quick tip.. if after you get everything ready to go and set etc.. snip off the ends of 2=Q-tips and stick in the 4 screw holes. I have found that on my other units they fill up with crap... spider junk and whatever. When you get ready to change batteries.. take out with needle nose and it is like new. I am a little anal so I dip the ends in a little petroleum jelly. You will thank me later.Tip#2... FOR ME anyway.. try and not let sun fall on the unit. It seems to mess things up. Said another way.. it works more dependably.. for me anyway.. in the shade or not DIRECT sun.One thing i especially liked a LOT was if you on error ... forget and hit the wrong button on the base unit .... it does not go into set mode immediately. Why would you ever push buttons? It is very nice to be able easily to adjust the volume. I colored the top one with green sharpie. I am getting old and forget crap. The volume is a rotating toggle.. so if you press a button and the chime does not sound... go to the other button.IF you have baby sleeping or you are elderly ... you can select lights to flash on base unit. They are bright enough to wake the dead. It will most definitely get your attention.GOOD PRICE.. My first units were from Cabellas years ago. I think technology has improved since then. My other ones i just dont use as I cant depend on them. They cost a fortune but that was back then.Cheers

Set up took longer than I expected, but range is decent
Lesson learned: use a brand new 9v battery when pairing transmitter to receiver.DISTANCE: I am using this in a forested area and also on a hill. The house is at the top of the hill and the driveway starts down below. Unfortunately, I was not able to get the range I wanted. I started at the beginning of the driveway and called my wife on the phone, I drove down the driveway closer and closer to the house while pressing the test button on the transmitter until she said it triggered the receiver. This ended up being ~500 yards away and 200 ft elevation drop.CALIBRATING MOTION SENSOR: It took several times until I found the setting to trigger a passing car. I was afraid of false alarms, so I set the sensor to filter on (which is recommended in the manual for outdoor) and range low (25ft) since the sensor is only feet away from the driveway where you would pass. I drove by in the truck and it did not trigger. I changed the range to medium (50ft) still nothing. I then turned the filter off (which the manual says is indoor use) and it worked. I was surprised how high I had to turn it up for it to detect a truck. In the end filter OFF, and range M is what worked for me.MOUNTING MOTION SENSOR: The sensor triggered when I walked up to it, so I mounted it to a tree about 4 feet of the ground (as stated in the manual). I then drove the truck by to test, nothing! My hypothesis is that the truck passes between the sensor and the house and blocks the signal from reaching the house. I then mounted the sensor higher, about 8-9 feet so that it would be above the truck height and the truck would not block the signal. I then pointed the sensor down, and it worked. This is probably only necessary if you are close to the max range. No info yet on long term weather durability, but the sensor does have a rubber gasket to seat it, which is promising.More on using a new 9V battery. I spent so much time trying to get them to pair, I even called tech support, which answered right away and was very friendly. Finally I found out I needed a new 9v battery, then it paired. The 9v I used made the light turn on and each time I waved my hand the red light turned on, but for some reason it would not pair, even though I was inches from the receiver.
