Are these round or elongated?

The nonpareil sprinkles are round. The others are elongated.

Will these melt during shipment with the high heat we are having?

We use these on shipped cookies with no problems, bearing in mind that most shipping facilities delivery vehicles , etc are air conditioned. However, I cannot say if they’d last if left out in the heat too long - I suspect not.

are these the good kind of nonpareils or the softer, slightly larger, waxy/plasticky tasting type?

These nonpareils are exactly like the type you would buy in a store that sells already made candy. The are small, so I take a cookie sheet and dump them on a full layer onto the sheet. Then I melt chocolate, use a tee spoon and make dots over the nonpareils, refrigerate them for 30 minutes and they are perfect. I use all the leftover dots, pour them back in the jar and use them again. They are actually perfect for making chocolate, placing on top of other items like cake or whatever you need them for. I highly recommend them and taste great.
