Looks good, worked only after I disassembled it and spun ...
Looks good, worked only after I disassembled it and spun the pump. At first I plugged it in and it wouldn't start, just get hot. I had to remove the wet head and turn the pump by hand to break it free, I guess because its been sitting for a while. It works like suggested, I use it as a waterfall pump and it pumps about 3000 gph at about 2 feet of head height. After 1 year, the pump doesn't run very long without overheating. I don't know if it has a thermal shut off or if its just getting clogged with stuff. I can't really blame the manufacture for this one, roots at the bottom of the pond keep getting sucked into the pump and probably shorten its life. I guess the only solution here is to protect the pump from root growth.Over the past year I had to remove the wet head about once a month to free up the pump as stuff getting caught in it like leaves make it difficult to keep running.I keep my rating at 3 stars. Its performance is as planned and for its energy use is much better than any pool type pump. I'm now looking to see if I can fully disassemble the pump to clean the entire rotating area. Looks like the end is held on by a C ring.

Great pump at a great price
Summary: Great pump at a great price ($125 w/ free Amazon Prime shipping)Details - I have a 1000 gal backyard pond/waterfall. My required water "lift" is about 3 feet (the top of the waterfall is about 3 feet above the pond) - this is important for newcomers to residential ponds because, lets say you also have a 1000 gal pond, but need to "lift" the water 8 feet - this will affect the performance results of your pump.Pros:- Even though rated at 3500gph, this pump replaced a 4800gph pump without any noticeable drop in waterfall action!- Small footprint - necessary for me due to my small filter basin- Long power cord - UGH, I hated my previous pump because it cam with a short (3ft maybe) cord. This pump has a 15 ft cord, so I was able to rid myself of the extenion cord I was previously using.Cons:- Packaging from manufacturer - Not usually a huge deal, but wow - the stuff they packaged this in must've been military rated for armored vehicles and glued with atomic adhesive. It was a nuisance to go out to the garage for my sheet-metal shears to get through the layers of ballistic kryptonite. A box and maybe some styrofoam would have sufficed.- Limited adapters - fortunately, I had plenty of right-angle, expander/reducer, inside thread/outside thread adapters from my last pump installation. Had I not, I would been to the hardware store to get this pump to fit my main conduit line for the waterfall.

Disappointed
Bought this pump August 2nd 2015. Fired it up in September. Worked great until now. Pump is not even 2 months old and no longer working. Very disappointed. Propeller was stuck. Wiggled it around and started working again. upgraded star to a three. Back to a one. Pump stopped working within 24 hours and doesn't come on at all. Called the customer service number, sent them a copy of invoice as instructed, 3 emails and no reply. Very poor customer service. Save your money. I will not buy any Beckett products again.

I'm not sure what is going on with the Beckett ...
I'm not sure what is going on with the Beckett waterfall pumps but I've had two that have failed within 1 month of use.I bought this as a replacement in the fall so I would have one ready to go this spring (I live in Minnesota so May is the soonest you can start your waterfall & pond).I have been using this less than a month and it has burned out! Again! There is no clogging or lack of water so it is not user error. Before the last two pumps I had a pump that lasted 7 seasons.Unfortunately, since I bought it last fall, it is past the time frame that I can return it.I am so frustrated!!

Good reliable pump, just keep it below the water line and use an extra filter of some kind..
This has been running about 6 hours a day for a year now with no problems. It needs to be covered all the way with water, and I recommend putting some kind of mesh or netting around it if you are using it outside. The slits that are supposed to "filter" the input water are spaced too far apart, and would let leaves and bugs into the works if you don't.

Great service good product.
Gave as a gift and the first one did not work! Was bummed out and contacted them and they sent me a second one right aways. Does will I pump up hill in my water gardebn to a sream bed .It was to powerful to just let it run down the stream so shot it uop in a buried pipe and let it flow out natural like a spring head.

Worth the money!
These are extreme pumps that are well built and push large, very large amounts of water, I recently used one of these on a waterfall project and pushed water up a 70 degree slope 100 feet and the pressure was still like a fire hydrant. I have also had one in the creek behind my house running nonstop for weeks and it seems to still work wonderfully.

its a decent pump for the money.
This is the second one I have purchased and it will be a spare. The first one is two years old and about to expire. The tabs that keep the plastic cover in place around the impeller cracked off, so I had to create a fix to keep the pump working.Beckett does not carry just the cover so, I had to buy the whole pump.
