I believe they "screwed" up...I could not get but two turns of the plug into the pan, on my 2006 Explorer.Funny thing is that I got a Dorman plug and the old plug to fit into the pan.The saddle (hex or Allen countersunk) plug didn't fit, neither the Ford plug nor the Dorman plug, likewise for that refill nipple.But, it did give me an idea: a saddle plug to fit the Ford plug from Lowes.For itself, little value - for the idea, priceless.There, I saved someone some money.

leaking drain plug
The center drain plug has a slow leak even when using permitex. The plug is an allen head instead of the factory torx fitting.
