Quality product
I have been in photography for over 60 years, and had always trusted Hoya filters for my lenses. I picked this one because I am confident with those "Made in Japan". Long time ago, Hoya was only made in Japan, but I found recent products were manufactured in other Asian countries. I specifically pick this one due to its country of manufacturing.

I'd used circular polarizers previously with my film cameras. ...
I'd used circular polarizers previously with my film cameras. Perhaps this just doesn't mate well with my Fuji X100 and the wide conversion lens I have on it. Often using this filter, a very dark zone is created in mid frame. I'm quite surprised at that. I had thought that I might see accentuated deep blue toward one end of frame, but I'm seeing it in the middle of the frame. I'm attempting to use it when aimed approximately 90º to the sun, as I once had when using a CP in my film days. The third of the frame toward the sun from that 90º is lighter and the third of the frame away from that 90º is lighter. That middle third of the frame, directly 90º from the sun is exceptionally dark. Another factor is that I'm shooting above 5000 ft elevation. I actually haven't felt I needed a polarizer through the years I've been shooting digitally, but thought I'd give it a try. I wonder if this high elevation and the deep blue we already get makes the CP's effect just too much. I'm playing with just how far I'm turning the filter to see if I can feather the effect. I might come back at some point in time and rate the filter higher. I'm always will to consider that my results may be due to operator error or less than adequate experience with a CP and digital sensors.

Amazing filter!! Really makes my photos look crisp! Loving this filter!
I'm not a professional photographer, but am learning. I can't believe the difference this filter makes! I just had a clear filter on to protect my lens. When I got this, I took a couple pics without the filter, then I put the filter on, wow!! What a difference! The first pictures I took, it was a very hot day, my pictures looked like it had a hazy look to it, like foggy, then I put on the polarized filter and wow! It's like it took all the haze away and everything was so crisp and just amazing!! I've left this lens on even when taking pictures inside, I've had no problems with auto focus. I've heard peopke say it has a mark on the outer lens, I see it, is the mark suppose to be on the top? I don't notice much when I turn it, just a little less glare. I have a canon SX50HS and I have an adaptor on, so I didn't need an adaptor and the 58mm fit perfect!! I had asked a lot of questions before buying this and want to say thank you all for helping me with questions and making the right choice, cause there were others I was looking at, this filter is great!! I would recommend this to anyone! From people who just starting in photography, or just takes pictures for fun or the advanced photographers! :) in the pictures I put, the lens in the package is my old clear filter, im just showing for the box. But if anyone wants to see the actual filter let me know, I had already put it on.

Excellent Filter At Bargain Price
This is an excellent filter. I bought it for use on my Canon 50 1.8 and Canon 40 2.8 for making videos when the light is too bright to have the lens wide open without a filter.I tested it on both lenses and was interested to find that while photos with both lenses with filter in place were fine they were better on the 40 mm. This tells me that I should use the 40 mm rather than the 50 whenever possible. It is a sharper lens.Comparing the photos taken with the 40 plus filter with those taken without the filter show very little difference, other than a slight darkening, which is what you expect.I also took some photos with the 40 with this filter on top of a B&W ND filter and was pleased that the quality of the photo was still very good. This is important when the light is bright enough to need more than either of the filters alone. When putting the filter on the camera take care to be sure that you are tightening the threads and not just turning the portion that you turn to change the amount of darkening. it is a thin filter and would be easy to think you are turning the lower portion to tighten the threads when you are really turning the upper portion. The threads mated perfectly with the lens, but there is very little to get your fingers on to tighten the lens.If you need a 52 mm polarizer, this is an excellent choice. High quality at a bargain price.

About Equal to Kaesemann In Everything Except Brass
I own both a B+W 72mm XS-Pro HTC Kaesemann Circular Polarizer with Multi-Resistant Nano Coating and this Hoya 72mm HRT Circular PL Polarizer Multi-Coated Glass Filter, and they both perform outstandingly, except the Kaesemann is double the price. So far, the only difference that I can tell is that this is made with an aluminum metal ring and the Kaesemann is made with a brass metal ring. The glass seems to be identical in quality. There may be slight improvements in the Kaesemann glass, but they are not noticeable to the naked eye, and I can't tell the difference even when zooming in on my images either. One thing to note though, while this filter (and the Kaesemann) will have the 25% increased transparency that will allow for more light, the polarizing effect will appear to be equally less intense. You can still reduce reflections with it, but colors will pop a lot less than a polarizing filter that has less transparency. For me, the extra light is worth it though.

I will write It does a good job when photographing objects in water as we have ...
To be honest I wanted a B+W but the cost was simply too high. However, this Hoya seems to be doing the job so far so I have no complaints. I have it attached to my 18-300 mm Sigma Lens, which is attached to my d7200 Nikon camera. I will write It does a good job when photographing objects in water as we have a large Koi pond (5,000 gallons). My wife used it to take a few photos of several of our 20 plus inches long Koi fish and showed them to me. I compared them to some older photos we had taken earlier with no polarizer lens and I was amazed at the different so it is safe to write the filter does what it is supposed to do. Therefore we are very happy with it.
