Ultrapure 2-mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT) is a recrystallized matrix for matrix assisted laser desorption ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry. The matrix is useful for analysis of peptides and proteins with performance comparable to CHCA and Sinapic acid but with a higher tolerance to surfactants such as SDS in the sample.
