Vampire of the Mists: The Ravenloft Covenant Paperback – Import, 12 September 2006

I had only read I, Strahd: The Memoirs of a Vampire. I'm a lover of vampire books and a nerd at heart so, this checked lots of boxes for me. Luckily for me, I have found friends who want to play DnD and I have requested that we eventually play Curse of Strahd. Strahd is the Dracula of the DnD world. So, to read this was definitely enjoyable. The fantasy aspect, vampire lore, the setting and the background are really good. It incorporates lots of the lore from the campaign. Since, I read I, Strahd I was shocked, literally shocked at how different the events that happened were told from the supposedly unbiased and historical facts. I really believed that the Memoir was being honest but to see that it wasn't really changed my perception of Strahd. I didn't understand why the redditera felt the way they did until I read this. I still have a soft spot for the ol'fellow but now I can see the truth. The Macguffin was perfect. The ending of the story like every CoS is sad and if you've ever seen any Dracula movie, you know exactly how it ends.

First Ravenloft novel ever written - it hits the ground running and produces some of the most memorable and compelling original characters while drawing on two of the greatest Ravenloft villains.

Habe das Buch ursprünglich als Teenager gelesen; über die Jahre ist es leider verloren gegangen und heute bekommt man es leider nur noch digital (oder gebraucht). Habe es mir daher als Kindle Buch gekauft, weil ich wissen wollte, ob es auch heute noch so spannend ist...ja, ist es. Eine schöne Vampir Geschichte im (A)D&D Universum.

Fun take on the Strahd story and interesting to see what has stayed the same and what has changed over the years. Jander was a great addition to the tale and a fun change of character.
