These connectors are listed as 18 gauge wiring and having a 5 Amp 12 VDC rating. The wiring is indeed 18 gauge and the pictures I've included show the internals of the male and female plugs of these pig tails versus the ones that came with my LED lights kit that has a 4 Amp transformer. The differences are obvious. The one with the continuous ring on the inside of the male plug, and the solid pin on the inside of the female plug, are the ones that came with my LED light kit. The ones with the two "strips" on the inside of the male plug, and the "formed" pin on the inside of the female plug are the ones that are on these pig tails. After seeing these component details of these pig tail connectors, I would have a concern about using these at the 12 VDC 5 Amp rating. The LED lights kit that I have has 6 strips, and I only need these pig tails to extend 2 of the strips to the other side of my kitchen. As such, these connectors will be seeing less than 1 amp draw, so my concerns are minimal for this application. I will also be using 14 gauge low voltage wiring to reduce any voltage drop on these longer runs. I did plug these pigtails into the extensions that came with my LED lights kit and checked the resistance. The difference was negligible. So bottom line, just based on the construction, I would only have a concern about overheating of th connection if these used at anything close to the published rating.

Cables are heavy duty with good solid contacts. The picture in the product is accurate as well as the sturdiness. This is for the 10 of each (male/female) product. Connectors make good and solid contact. I would not hesitate to purchase again.

Fantastic pigtails. Used to replace a bunch of screw-terminal-based connectors (JUNK!). Wiring was a bit heavy to attach to a few existing cables, but would much rather have too thick than too thin. Male connectors grip female equipment side counterparts very tightly. Will re-order this guage and next lighter to keep on hand.

Good quality, not skinny wire gauge. Very useful to have a bunch around, male and female.

Great product for electrical projects. Makes easy work of removing 120vac transformers and running things off of 12 volts.

Male and female halves mate snugly, pre-tinned leads make assembly easy.
