A good reminder for grownups and kids that sometimes being noisy has a purpose

One fine summer day, Pip decides to do gardening. Unfortunately, his friend Posy is making a tremendous amount of noise beating her drum, bouncing on her ball and sliding down her sliding board. Pip, frustrated, barely tolerates her noise. A sudden discovery of a snail is a delight to Pip, but not so when Posy scares the snail and he retreats inside his shell. Uh oh. Here comes a bird who picks up snail, undoubtedly his next lunch. Posy saves the day in a most characteristic manner, and Pip realizes that sometimes his loud friend is just the ticket to scare a bird into giving up. The friendship is saved, and Pip and Posy close by having a loud playtime followed by a quiet time. The message for children of mutual respect shines with the help of a good story, memorable characters, delightful illustrations and clear descriptive text.

Our one year old absolutely loves all of the pip and posy books. They have been great for encouraging his speech, the illustrations provide some really great opportunities for discussion and for them to tell you what is happening in the book. Really sweet.

Sweet gentle story.

I'm so excited about this book just arriving in the post! I hadn't realised a new book in this fantastic series had come out until yesterday. In this story Pip makes friends with a little snail but unfortunately Posy is wanting to do lots of 'noisy play' and keeps scaring him away. It all works out in the end when Posy manages to scare a bird away that was about to fly off with the poor snail.My 2 year old son absolutely loves these books. I think I have read Pip and Posy: The Super Scooter over one hundred times! I cannot wait to read this to him. I know it will be a new favourite and he'll be saying 'again', 'again!' These stories are so relatable to young children and as always the illustrations are stunning. We love talking about all the things happening in the pictures. Another brilliant book.

I think this is best of all the Pip and Posy books so far. It seems far longer with much more plot than some of the previous books. A real improvement. The story follows Pip making friends with a snail, only for the snail to get scared by Posy being loud and then Pip shouting at her and making her cry. Then a bird tries to eat the snail, and Posy shouts to scare it away. They make up and play quietly. Good way to discuss when is the right time to be loud with your kids, and when you should be quieter out of consideration for others. Recommended.
