Great Little Pump for a Birdbath
The media could not be loaded. I had ordered this pump for our cement birdbath in our backyard. When it arrived I was immediately struck by how small the pump was. Most adults could easily close their hand around it. What I received was the solar panel that is about the same size as a standard iPad. A cord about 8ft long to the pump. There is a nylon mesh bag that fits around the pump to filter out stuff in the water that you will really need to use. three small stiff plastic tubes that when put together has a length about 10 inches. I believe it had 4 different fountain spray heads. Using these heads and in full sun it will shoot water up about 2 ft . I used a 3/8 in tube that came with the birdbath that fit through the statue on that sits on top of the birdbath. This pump easily pumps water up this tube and out about 2 inches past the end of the tube. The pressure and volume of water is just perfect for our fountain. Blocking sunlight on even 1/4 of the solar cells will stop the pumps. So it does need full sun on them. I have had this pump a month now going from about 10:30AM to 8PM and it runs like a champ so far.

Impressive!
So far so good and I say that because I have gone through five solar pumps with batteries which are supposed to keep the pump going for awhile when the sun disappears. I had become very frustrated as the items either worked for a few days or not at all forcing me to return them. This solar panel however does not have a battery pack and runs beautifully when the sun is out. I find it a bit annoying that it doesn't have a stand but I solved that problem by buying an iPad stand.Additional review almost 3 months later....It still works, had to clean the pump and the fountain a few times, just gave it 5 stars instead of four.

Works well
I have an outdoor 48 gallon pond and this 5w solar panel and pump works well, people searching for a system like this need to consider that the greater the panel wattage the more power or circulation. When the sun hides or if you block the panel with your shadow, it will stop the pump- that’s normal. The only thing that I wished this kit came with was a stand or a mount to mount the solar panel.

GREAT Pump
I purchased the Lewisia 5W Solar Fountain Pump for a small-ish backyard fountain. I am VERY pleased with the pump, and it is working well.I first purchased the Lewisia 2W pump and was dismayed at how small the device was. I did not open or use the 2W pump, it just appeared too small to do the job.Went back to Amazon and purchased the same brand in the 5W pump. The size of the larger pump seemed adequate, so I open and installed. In the photo, the pump can be seen in the bottom bowl of the fountain -- it's the small black thing on the right side. You can also see the solar panel, mounted on the fence in the background. The pump comes with a mesh bag as a filter. If there is sunlight (not just daylight), the pump will work. If it is cloudy (or if you stand in front of the solar panel) the pump stops. For size considerations, the fountain in the picture is next to a 5-foot wall; I'd guess that the fountain holds 5 gallons of water. When you consider that you can now put a water feature anywhere without regard to many, many $$$ in plumbing costs, this is an amazing device. And, seriously, if it fails after awhile, buy a new one.I recommend this pump without hesitation.

New pump defective out of the box. Fortunately I only needed the solar panel.
I have bought this item twice. Once for a garden fountain outside and once for a table top fountain. Since I live off grid, these solar powered decorations are especially wonderful. I bought this third one to replace the one that was used for the table top fountain on the screened-in porch. When I plugged it in this year, it did not work.Since the garden fountain has the same type and brand solar panel and pump, I tested each with it and determined that the solar panel did not work. It had worked for two years, but I remembered that we had a major storm that pushed a deluge of rain onto the porch. The wind had blown the solar panel over so that the box the cord came out of was on top. Then the rain filled the solar panel holder, submersing the box. I suspect that is what killed the solar panel. Since could not order just the solar panel, I bought a new solar panel and pump kit.I was so surprised that upon receiving the new kit, the fountain did not work! However using the old pump with the new solar panel did work. So the fountain is now functional. But I am disappointed that I had to buy a new pump with the solar panel and the pump is defective. However, I am glad I kept the old pump so that I do have a working fountain.

Highly recommend!
Very happy with this solar pump. Have it bubbling in a wide pottery saucer where it draws birds and pollinators all day. I had a different model with a smaller solar panel last year, but this one is superior-more power and plenty of cord to move it around as the sun moves if I want to. Easy and fast to clean as the inevitable algae and gunk build up. Will be buying more of these as I add water features to other parts of the garden. Very good product for the price. Versatile, easy way to add water movement to the garden.

Good little pump
This was my first foray into solar powered fountain pumps. I bought the 5W to power a 3' high water feature. Before I even installed, I had to disconnect the pump from the panel--on a cloudy day after 6pm, the panel was powering the pump! Ultimately, I was asking slightly more of the pump than it could reliably deliver--it needed full sun and exactly the correct water level in order to produce an uneven, weak trickle. Several times over the course of one year, I had to remove the pump altogether and let it dry out before re-installing. I brought the whole feature indoors during our brief Texas winter and re-installed in the spring without incident; ultimately, my failure to properly secure the solar panel was the reason I needed a replacement this month. To recap: good system, slightly weak for 3' tall feature, probably needs a debris filter, worked fairly well until I broke it after 14 months. Worth $50? I think so.

Great fountain pump
I am really happy with this new solar pump. It shoots the water really high when the sun is out, and continues to work even when the sun goes behind a cloud as long as it is not completely obscured. The height of the jet varies according to the amount of light reaching the solar pannel. I had another solar pump before and the water would stop shooting completely the minute the sun was slightly obscured. When I first put it together and laid it at the bottom of the pond, the top of it wasn't quite high enough to reach the water level, but I solved that problem by laying the pump on top of a large flat rock.I look forward to enjoying it for many years to come.

Good value, works well.
Works very well in the sun, and even a little bit in partial shade or on a cloudy day.
