Excellent drone for beginners and for the price!
I have never flown a drone. I found the setup per the manual to be very easy. I also viewed some you tube videos and found them very helpful. This thing is very durable, I have crashed it several times into my house and metal fence it only shows a few scratches.Sure the battery could last longer and stability in wind could be better but this is an inexpensive way to get into drone flight.A five star for me.P.S. check to phone OS specs for the app, makes sure your up to date. My iPhone 13 worked very well.

Five stars at the price - Impressed
Update - Great customer service too. I hit a stone wall and damaged the props. Installed the included replacements, and got back in action. I emailed Holy Stone about 7pm Friday to ask if I could buy some spares and had an answer Saturday morning that they were shipping replacements right away. Surprising and impressed again.I was given an inexpensive drone for Christmas, which had blurry video, no instructions, and a terrible App. I trashed it in a day, and ordered this Holy Stone HS280 - Impressed! I’m a middle aged guy curious about learning to fly a drone, and this has been great. First, there is a nice instruction book that explains clearly how to connect, calibrate and get the drone in the air. The App has links to clear, understandable how-to videos, and seems to work well. Even the controller had a “help” card over the controls when unpacked. The drone itself seems solidly built and for a basic drone without GPS or optical tracking it is fairly easy to fly. At the price point this seems like a great starter drone. And I think if I can learn to fly it reasonably well without the bells and whistles, I’ll be ready to invest in a more expensive “loaded” drone for serious photography.Based on this experience I think my next drone will be a Holy Stone too.

GREAT value if you can get it on sale!
I was really excited to find this on sale! This drone is a GREAT value for anyone looking for their next step in learning to fly drones. I started out with micro and nano drones that are safe to fly in the house. I picked this up as my next step in learning. The app and motorized camera are a nice bonus but due to the light weight of the drone and lack of image stabilization, you won't be getting any phenomenal videos or images. The recorded video is streamed from the drone to the app on your phone instead of being recorded to an SD card, so you may see lag or choppiness on playback. Also due to the lag between the drone camera and what you see in the app, it isn't safe to fly this drone using FPV (First Person View) in anything less than a wide open field or empty parking lot. Otherwise you may crash into something. However, if you're a beginner, sometimes it's just cool to see things from a bird's eye view. :-DOverall, I'm REALLY happy with this drone!

PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING!!!!
I'm sure you're thinking," Oh my gosh this drone seems so great, and it is at an affordable price, and it has a 4-star review." because that's what we were thinking. However, you are dead wrong.DO NOT BUY THIS especially if you're a beginner. Got this for me and my son this Christmas. It worked fine for about 2 seconds. We checked, double checked, and triple checked the manual and did exactly what it said. However, it wouldn't follow the commands and just did its own thing. We flew this at the park with 8ft tall fencing. We pressed the land commands. NOTHING HAPPENED. It just continued flying off into the distance. Finally, we set off the emergency stop command and IT STILL KEPT FLYING AWAY. At this point we couldn't even see the drone anymore. Essentially, my 80 DOLLARS just grew wings and flew away into the big blue sky. This isn't a good look Holy stone. DO BETTER PERIOD. HEED THE ONE STAR REVIEWS.

BUY IT!
TL:DR BUY IT! Great beginner droneWhere to start, the drone is so read for beginners, the camera is a little fuzzy but we have had so much fun with it. The battery life is about 15 to 20 minutes with is ok in my opinion that is the only thing I would change. This little drone is so durable, we have hit it against so many things while learning to fly and it is still going ours came with 4 extra blades so it will be good to change out after we get through the learning curve. The only thing I can say is if you are looking for something for video look for something more expensive, the camera is good for what it is but the recording can be laggy and choppy, it works but we bought for camera purposes. The auto take off works amazing, it balances it self realy well, and has trimming to hone in on the gyro. If you are looking to get into drones, this is the perfect little guy to get you started!

Not for beginners
The drone was easy enough to put together. But, the instructions were in a very light black print and I could hardly read them and they weren't that easy to follow. I had to install an app to take pics from the drone. I did that - but discovered I had to go in and change several settings on my S-23 Galaxy Android phone to get it work - and I was unsuccessful in getting this done. Yes, I watched the videos and even you-tubed to get more info. But, it just wasn't happening. In addition, my phone was too large to "attach" it to the drone. To be honest, my 12-year neighbor helped me a great deal to get as far as I did with the drone. But we couldn't connect my phone....which was the whole point to begin with.

Reliable support
After multiple flights, one of the motors failed midflight and I got in touch with Product Support to see about replacing the now inoperable motor. After several emails I received a completely new motor arm assembly and video to show removal and replacement procedures. The aircraft is back in the air and basically confined to indoor activity where my flying skills have been refined to keep contact with walls and other objects to an absolute minimum. We occasionally get outdoors through an open window but reentry takes a steady hand and no wind.
