Do I need to use a hair heat protectant product when using this? Will it make the barrel sticky?

I would recommend using a heat protectant for your hair before using any heated styling tool. I sent this item back as it just did nothing in the way of adding a curl or wave to my hair.

Will this work for hair that is past your rear end?

I highly doubt it. You would have to do it in several sections and it would take a long time. My hair goes to my waist and it is perfect for that length.

Is this battery powere or electric powered?

This is electric powered, it comes with a cord to plug in! You will not regret purchasing this, it works wonders!!! I highly suggest watching the videos.
