Love, love, LOVE! It’s so easy to follow, and I really like that it includes videos. It teaches you proper technique, how to follow the beat, and how to read music, which has made learning so much easier!

This book is amazing. I bought it as someone who loves the piano but could barely play chopsticks and now a few months later I can play portions of amazing songs and I can actually read music. You have to put the work in. You have to read the instructions, sometimes rely on the videos provided but this is amazing and im having so much fun. I love this book. Thanks so much. Im about halfway through and I cant wait to try the next one.

Four stars, but excellent teaching. Four, because the pieces displayed on the pages are sometimes so tiny that even putting a magnifying glass does not help, and especially when you are using two hands at the keys, a third hand would become quite handy. Aside from that turmoil of seeing, I have gone through the material about 10 times now and am gaining the "trick" to cords (oh, how I still dislike playing cords)

Great for beginners

I got this book because my mom was going to give away her keyboard and I took it to my house even though I’ve had no formal lessons. I can read music and play some very basic songs, but with no sense of what I’m actually doing. This book starts at the very beginning and I’ve taken the time to read through every word and watch every video even if it’s something I already know. I’m a little more than halfway through and already feel way more knowledgeable and skilled. I never understood how pianists could play all those notes with just 10 fingers, and figured my hands were too small to ever do it, but I was wrong! There is an art to finger placement, and this book teaches and guides it. The pace of the book is great, it gradually gets more complex, and in an order that makes sense to me. One piece of advice I have for anyone who gets this book is PRACTICE! Sure, I can sloppily get through some of the songs with no metronome, but I won’t move on until I feel like I have perfected a piece, timing and all. I practice every day, and can feel the muscles in my hands learning. Often, I tell myself I’ll practice for 20 minutes, and the next thing I know and hour+ has passed.

Very detailed description

I used this initially to learn piano but quickly learned there are better books out there. Yes it will teach the basics but you would be better off going with Faber’s adult adventures in piano to learn how to play. It really only goes to a very basic level that you can finish in like a month of dedicated practice.

Lovely book for learning the piano

I had a few lessons when I was in infant school then maybe about ten in highschool, but I wasn't aloud to continue. So, now years later, I am suffering with mental health conditions and I read that playing an instrument can help. I decided to get a piano and this book and start again. 100% agree it helps with mental health. This book is so clear and easy to understand. I will be ordering the second book very soon. In a matter of weeks I have found myself back to the standard I was and improving rapidly. I would recommend this book to anyone refreshing or just starting out, I had never played left hand of sharps and flats before now and they are coming to me very easily with this clearly laid out book.
