Excellent Portable Tripod
I really like this tripod for the price. Setup and breakdown is very easy. The ball head is easy to maneuver when you want it to move and easy to lock in place when you have it where you need it. It's small enough to easily attach to a single camera bag (sling type and shoulder). The included carrying case is great and it has all the required hardware to tighten joints or convert it to a monopod.I do wish that the feet on the legs could also contain spikes instead of just the rubber caps and I wish it were a touch lighter (you'd have to spend a lot more for carbon fiber to get any real weight to sturdiness difference).Overall I'd recommend this to the hobbyist to prosumer level photographer.

Sturdier than it should be...
Good travel tripod. I was able to use my Nikon Z7II with a Tamron 100-400 lens without issue - as long as it wasn't too windy and as long as I didn't fully extend the center column.

Decent lightweight tripod for the money
I have a few tripods, including a competitor ($170) that this seems aimed at. I won't mention thr name of the competitor. Here are the pros and cons of this tripodPROS:*Compact for travel with carrying case.*Lightweight*Arca-Swiss ball head. This is the best universal quick release. It comes with one plate, but you will want more as needed for cameras snd lenses.*Quick release rings to extend legsCons*May be too lightweight for use in wind*Rubber feet are caps and not switchable for pegs to use in soft ground*Legs are very short. An extension innthe center post is used to give more height, but that results in less stability.Compared to the $170 competitor, it is shorter and somewhat less stable. But if you are using it with a lightweight camera, it is sn inexpensive alternative. But if your camera is expensive, I wouldn't scrimp on this tripod. Even the competitor that I use for convenience when traveling is less stable than I prefer. I use an expensive heavy duty carbon fiber tripod whenever possible.

functional, well made and versatile tripod
This is such a great tripod and a solid value at the price point. I ordered this to replace a tripod that had lasted about a month before breaking. It wasn't that I had put it through a particularly rigorous shooting schedule--it was just poorly made. The Opteka tripod is a perfect replacement and then some. The first thing I noticed when I brought the box in from the porch is how light it is. The item description says it weighs 3.08 pounds and I was surprised it was that much. The tripod comes in a well made zippered carrying case. Once I removed the unit from the case I was immediately impressed with the construction. It feels extremely solid--if you see the word 'aluminum' in the tripod's material composition of magnesium aluminum alloy and think it must be flimsy you are 100% incorrect. This thing is built like a tank and I wouldn't be hesitant to take it on the most rugged outdoor photo shoot. In fact, it'll be traveling with me to Southern Utah later this year.It has all of the features and functionality you'd want from a quality tripod--you can convert it to a monopod and use it at a wide range of heights (16" to 59" as a tripod, 26" to 62" as a monopod). It has a metal ball head, independent lockable pan and tilt dials and even a bubble level integrated in the unit so you can make sure that your photo won't be tilted. It's even reversible--meaning you can lock the camera in place close to the ground which opens the possibility of all sorts of interesting shots. I might use this function to try to shoot desert critters later this year. It even has a spring loaded bag hoop, which will allow you to use a backpack for a counterweight if you're dealing with a strong wind.I can't get over how this tripod manages to simultaneously be light and burly, rugged and precise, easy to use with every imaginable functionality and just a generally awesome unit at a very reasonable price. This is a serious tool for any legit photographer, but affordable enough for novices. Great job on a great tripod.
