These socks are very thin, the material on the top of the foot is like a fine mesh so I wouldnt recommend these for a cold weather run if your shoes also have plenty of ventilation!Slightly more material underfoot and along the sides, but none of the surfaces caused me any rubbing or blisters during a couple of hot weather half and full marathons - so I've no hesitation in using these for an upcoming 100km ultra.I prefer the "low" version of this sock as it also allows you to use compressport's calf sleeves without the two overlapping. The only slight criticism is that on first use, the collar can feel a little tight. These socks do provide a little compression to the foot, so they should feel a little tight around the foot, but not the ankle, but thankfully this eases after a wash or two.
