Still great phone for a very reasonable price
This phone still holds good, even though there's Xperia V generation available now.I like it being compact and easy to operate one hand, lightweight so you don't feel it in your jeans pocket, and offering decent performance, good camera (good for a phone), side mounted fingerprint reader (they usually work better than the ones inside the screen) and other features like stereo speakers, 3.5 headphone jack, video output (yes - you can connect external display/projector to it and watch videos/movies on big screen). What I didn't like (and these are just minor annoying things):- you cannot reassign Voice Assistant button to another function- it's hard to take screenshots because the combination of buttons to take screenshot shows you the menu window, which then appears on the screenshot you took- many features in the picture editing software are not available without paid subscription- you can't quickly adjust display brighness - whatever you do, you can't get brighness menu accessible with 1 swipe, you need to swipe twice to see this setting. Also, because Sony Xperias aren't very popular, there is very limited selection of cases/bumpers for this model.

Solid
This guy does all you need in this price range. And the cameras are great. Put some time in the video and camera app and you'll see it's worth it.

Good phone, but gets very hot, a lot.
bought this phone mainly for the mid price point and all the features it claims to have as well as a great camera. When setting this up the phone did get very hot, however this then subsided.Overall:Over the past six months while using this the unit has been an adequate communication device with nice features like a fingerprint reader on the side, SLT type camera lense and a vivid screen. however with these good points there are also the bad/not so good. The Bluetooth on this device can be a bit hit/miss (will sometimes constantly connect/disconnect from my watch, sometimes have issues when connected to a vehicle bluetooth where the vehicle will drop a call back to the phone unit, this has happened in multiple vehicles). The phone can quite often get very hot and over heat when doing basic tasks like running Android Auto, tethering or Camera work. While hot the phone can be very sluggish.Camera:The cameras on this phone are very good, however sometimes the focus can be hit or miss. When using the camera there is only an on screen button when using the "Auto" function. The Video function is also only there on the Auto Function, however there is also the "Camera Pro" application for anything more than that, however this in itself can be quite complicated and captures are all put into a project, which makes using it for simple video snaps a little frustrating. The other camera modes are very well laid out and provides the full functionality that you would expect from an expert camera, and similar the the Sony Alpha range, however when using these modes you have to use the shutter button the side, which can be a bit hard to press if you have a case on it, and make you move the shot you are going for. the way to combat this would be to use timers, but that can make you miss the intended shot. As for the quality of the pictures, these are very clear when zoomed right in and the lenses work well for the functions selected.Viewing:When watching content on this the streams are clear and sharp which you would expect. The sound from the device is good with stereo type sound coming from the base of the unit and the topGaming:The phone has a Game Centre built in which holds all your gaming applications on it and can handle all your games in there. Playing is smooth and consistent when the phone temperature is steady, however can get laggy when hot. Adding a PS4 controller will give more control over certain types of games and works well.

Loved then hated
I have to say I love the Sony Xperia until it stopped working with the 3G switch off. I always had issues with the sound quality and connection and people saying they had difficulty hearing me or the connection was poor. I always put it down to the connection from the network. I now have a Sony Xperia 10 and I realized this was not the case. Phone had a genuine issue with sound quality we're making calls. I have loved having an Xperia five the functionality, the battery life and the amazing picture qualities, brilliant easy to use , love the location of the fingerprint reader. however if a phone cannot function as a phone then it's lacks in a major area. I still have the Sony Xperia 5 I'm using it more as a tablet as honestly the functions were good for it's not a phone. I was forced to buy a new phone because the 3g switch off, I couldn't receive or make phone calls . I did buy another Sony Experia just a cheaper version the Sony Xperia 10 which is working very well for me.

fingerprint unlock not working at all
Phone by itself is pretty nice and works almost flawlessly when talking about software, but the fingerprint sensor is wonky and sometimes needed 1-2 restarts per day but right now the settings for managing my added fingerprints is gone from the menu. This is quite annoying for unlocking my device or using any of the money/banking related apps.
