Not the prettiest, but VERY functional
First, anyone expecting a glossy, foodie tome will be VERY disappointed. This reminds me a little of some of the "hippie" cookbooks that were hand drawn in the late seventies and early eighties and self published. Or the early Moosewood offerings. However, this is the only cookbook I know of written by CSAs for use by their subscribers. Great recipes (but NO pictures of the food). Great references. And the ingredient based approach you need to have when contemplating the CSA box containing four vegetables you have never eaten before, let alone cooked with. Great for farmer's markets, but really explicitly designed for CSAs.If you want glossy, get "Local Flavors" by Deborah Madison. But realize, this has more recipes and more utility, especially in the Midwest. (And I love Deborah's book). Worth every penny, even without pictures.

Refreshingly Simple
After signing on for a farm share this summer, I was astounded by the amount of vegetables and desperate to find things to do with them. However, since I was already working on the farm and at my job, the idea of doing anything too fancy and complex was daunting. So this book was a godsend! It covers a wide range of vegetables and offers storage as well as preparation tips. Most of the recipes are simple: requiring few ingredients or seasonings yet truly bring out the flavors of the vegetables. However, sometimes the recipes get a bit repetitive and there are few that are too simple.

This book makes me very excited for Spring
I love my CSA!!! But some weeks it is a struggle to know what to do with everything in my share. I'm confident that this book is going to help with that in many ways. So many great ideas. And I love all of the information it provides on each vegetable. Really good info. The kids section is nice too. I may start there. Can't wait for farm season!!

Great Book for CSA Members
I bought this book as reference to help others use and become familiar with CSA produce.I find it to be a great little book. I love the fact a CSA coalition pulled this together. One thing I did not find the original review at all accurate and it confuses me why people indicate something that isn't true or is minimally evident. I don't find one reference to this "bisquick" issue. All very fresh ingredients that make the best out of local produce.I would encourage anyone to purchase this book!

love this cookbook for healthy and tasty recipes!
I love this cookbook, have used it for years. The recipes use fresh ingredients that I have in my kitchen. The format is fantastic, organized by common CSA foods, so if I have, say, Kale, I just look up the Kale chapter and have 20 great recipes for kale. I have given this as a gift many tiems, is one of our dog-eared staples!

Love the variety and simplicity of recipes
This is my go to book for preparing veggies for my family. We're even adding different types of veggies because this book explains how to prepare them in so many ways.

Easy to find, new to me, vegetable with quick reciepe
As a new member of CSA (community supported agriculture), I desired a book that I could easily find the vegetable/herb that I had not used before, but now was in my weekly bag. The layout of book in alphabetic order makes finding the vegetable easy. I like the simple suggestions like "just sauté with garlic and oil". Sometimes it is these simple tips that you just don't find in major cookbooks, but provides a simple great tasting suggestion.
