J.C.'s Smoking Wood Chunks - Gallon Sized Bag - Maple

This was fantastic. I used only chunks of this for a few cooks and got a very sweet, seductive, smokey smell in the air and on my food. I then ran out and was forced to used chunks for the big box store and my goodnesses, they gave such off-putting, sooty, ashy smells.You can tell JC sells seasoned wood that is 100% the hardwood he says it is. Highly recommended, just wish he'd add some red oak ;)

I visited the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Door County in Wisconsin this past summer and discovered that all of the smokehouses use maple to smoke their fish. Here in Florida, that was a hard wood to find. J. C.s chunks were some of the few I could find.The flavor they impart is excellent and they ignite easily in both an electric smoker (Smokin-It #2) and my medium Big Green Egg. Since I'm only using it for fish, I only use one or two chunks at a time, so this bag will last me awhile, but a gallon bag is pretty small if you're going to use this for anything else.For the record, shipping was prompt and arrived in excellent condition.

I do not see how people can bq with just charcoal. This is the only way to go. Different woods lend different flavors. OUTSTANDING

Great wood chunks! It's hard to find maple chunks, and these were just what I was looking for.
