A recent storm knocked out our electric power for an extended time. We have supplemental heat sources, so we stayed warm and we have a gas stove, so we could cook food. What we didn't have enough of was emergency lighting. We purchased these LED lanterns to use during our NEXT power failure. The design of these lanterns is simple but elegant. The case slides up to reveal the LEDs and to turn them on. Slide the case back down and the lights turn off. There is never any question if the on/off switch is on or off. The three AA batteries are contained in the base, which makes the lantern quite stable. We purchased the bright yellow lanterns so even if they are stored in the back of the closet they are easy to locate. We chose non-rechargeable lanterns on purpose. Chances are if it's been several years since you used your rechargeable lantern, the batteries will be dead. If your power is out, you will have no way to recharge them. With these lanterns, if the batteries are dead, you just put in new batteries.

These are excellent for emergencies. When the lights go out I have backup. And very bright

I purchased these lanterns for the purpose of having back up lighting during power outages. Lo and behold within weeks of my purchase there was a power outage in my neighborhood that lasted several hours. The lanterns give off as much lighting as you require, since they are adjustable. They are lightweight yet very sturdy. I am very pleased with this purchase, and I have recommended them to neighbors. Oh, and a good price too!

These seem very durable and are very bright. Haven't used them yet but seem great .

They are cute were a good price, although by the time you add batteries others may have been as good. Don't know about battery life as I have not needed them yet.
